After some more research here's what happen. Yes MGM owns the .net, since 2003 but when they went after your name it was taken. By who? a little film company called Blinding Edge Pictures that wanted to use the name "The Woods" for a movie but instead used the name "The Village". The film was originally tittled The Woods, but the name was changed because a film directed by Lucky McKee already had that title. So Blinding Edge Pictures eventally let the name that you own drop. Someone parked it until they gave up on it for lack of income. Now you own it. MGM had a reason for going after the .net but that reason might be close to 8 years old and not necessarily a priority anymore. Its common for creative power house companys to keep renewing a library of names for different reasons. Perhaps they would really like to have your name, on the other hand it seems to have been available to them for a few years and they didnt jump on it/backorder it as it was available to you as a hand reg. If they wanted it real bad they would have reg it before you did the other day. But good luck with this project.
