Ive researched a bit to get an idea of what it's worth, but I would love to hear some opinions...

Nope, it's polution.net

I didn't figure it'd be worth much either, but a friend advised me to buy it when he saw it open. I looked it up on estibot and valuate, they're saying about $3,300. The domain "pollution.net" comes in at $42k. I know those aren't very accurate, but the traffic numbers appear to be there. A lot of misspelled traffic I guess? Or is it just completely wrong?

Its resale value would be wholly dependent on that traffic factor as it has true end-user value of $0 imho.

Automated appraisal sites... I've never found them to be worth using.

Someone would have to both misspell pollution and want to go to the dot net to get type in traffic. Test it for traffic or try to toss it back to the registry. If your stuck with it and traffic stinks try to get your friend to go 50% on the loss, tell him its his fault. Goodluck

Ha...he said he couldn't reg it for some reason, only $9, not too worried about it. I realize you shouldn't trust the automated valuations, but I thought the traffic and keyword numbers they use were at least accurate. I don't see how the numbers estibot is showing are possible. I parked it to see if it actually gets some traffic.

Let's sum up your mistakes:

• relying on 'advice' from a 'friend'
• not doing your own research
• using automated appraisal tools
• registered a domain that you can't really develop, because it's a typo that is probably not going to have type-in traffic

As said above, grace delete and buy another better domain.

what do you exactly mean with "traffic" ?
i don't see any traffic data for polution.net on estibot.

ok, we have about 12.000 searches / month in google for the typo "polution". estibot says 33.000 which probably includes other search engines too. ok, thats about 6% of all poeple searching for pollution. correct.

and we got about 3 million results for "polution", thats correct too.

if you mean the type-in score, i don't think thats for your domain. thats probably just for the keyword / sld.

besides, competition for ads is very low based on google data.
