Nice for domain parking service :) Potential for developing.

As for market value for the name itself, my system says:

$7,164.50

Not bad!

Just out of curiousity Josh, what is "Your System"?

Ok, my valuation is a little different. My first instinct is to look at commercial applications for a domain like this. I own a similar domain name, and recently recieved an offer that I declined. ($750) this was a real offer, and many phone calls were made back and fourth. In my mind the word "park" has some extra value. The reason is because although you can park in the Domain Industry, there are 2 others that domainers wouldnt think of.

Yours, would fit will in a CarParking service. Vallet, ect. Also, recently lexus introduced a car that parallel parks itself. I dont know if yours would fall into this category, but its a thought.

Based on my thoughts, I would value this domain name in the mid xx for a reseller. Im not a big fan of the "we" for a parking service. But it could work.

Best of luck,
Justin

Thanks for that. The obvious use for the name would be a domain parking service. However archive.org tells me that the domain was used in the 90s by a california-based valet parking organisation (now bust).

A third use of the domain could be a car parking space trading site that allows people with front driveways or garages to sell them to commuters etc - theres a few of them out there.

Domainspade, I'm a litlle unclear as to how you reach mid $xx though. I've had interest at a far higher price than that already (and I only caught the domain yesterday).

Well, my issue is simply im not a big fan of the "we" , The connotation of "we" just doesnt seem appropriate, now of course, this is comming from a personal opinion here.

Now, Interest is a great thing, I get plenty of interest in domains. Offers are a different story. When I value a domain name, I consider a few factors. If I was in the market for this domain, what would I pay for it. I considered and decided that for this domain, I would probably pay $50-60 dollars.

I am not a machine, and not a psychic. My appraisal are based on my own logic and sales history of like domains. If Im proven wrong, it wont be the first or last time.

Best of luck

Justin

Domainspade - I've been developing a domain appraisal system that's part machine part human - obviously it's in early beta, but the system takes into account many variables, mostly the usual suspects but I'm working on the formula so that it would cover more than your usual automatic systems. Here are some variables factored in:

-keyword frequency
-search popularity for keyword + long tail
-word count
-length in characters
-tld
-historical market value for main keyword
-advertiser bids for keywords
-brandability

So it's not a reseller valuation - more of a combination of reseller+end user potential. Obviously resellers will pay less, but some end users may pay much more. Domain valuation is a very subjective matter - what's gold for one is fool's gold in the eyes of another. I developed this system to add objectivity to my valuations, and to help me valuate names that I am interested in.

I think the system is on the right track - I can imagine wepark.com going for about $7,000 to the right domain/car/other parking service provider.

But as always, it's hard to find end users - you may have to hold on for >5 years. If you choose to sell to a reseller, expect marginal profits.

Anyway, domain valuation is hard, but it's also fun. Always take valuations with a grain of salt

Josh,

Sounds good. Let me know if you want some Beta Testers for your system. We can compare it to some of the historical data in the NameBio database to see how it fairs up.

Glad to hear your doing some critical thinking about valuation. Sound like your on the right track.

Hey guys,

Maybe try something like this when giving out domain appraisals here. Just a thought.

It might avoid confusion and create some stability here on NamePros.

I hope it adds something to the community so we can all get ahead start on finding a happy median for appraisals online.
