I'd like some input on this one. There are obviously a lot of advertisers for these terms, and similar names being used for lead generation sites. This was not a hand reg.

I emailed about 50 people last week and had two people write back "How much?" right away, but they didn't bite at the price I was asking.

Thanks for your ideas.

The grammatical ambiguity detracts from the
names value and use. Unless you are offering
Free Insurance....
Then you could call it
fishbrainsoup and you would still see traffic.
And the name would be great!

Are you offering free insurance? as in free
rates? Or are you offering free rate quote
or a free quote on rates?

The word "rates", in the phrase, seems out
of place and the phrase is not a natural
language pattern.

"Free car insurance rates" is searched globally 260
times a month and in the US about 170 times. This
is very low. However the CPC is over $40 a click
so this is a long tail name with no legs unless you
develop the name.

"Free Car Insurance Quote" is searched over 22K
times and 12K times a month in the states with
a whopping CPC of $35 a click you can see how
much more valuable the name consistent with
natural language/speech patterns are compare
to a compilation of good keywords that are NOT
consistent with natural speech pattern.

Sorry but I see very little value in the name
alone.
Reg fee to low $$ IMHO.

You're right that "quotes" is the greater searched term, and would have been preferable. However, there are so many developed sites and advertisers also using the term "rates," that it seems like it's also in demand.

Lead gen companies tend to have hundreds of sites on siimilar domains - they may look like different sites, but if you check, they're all owned by the same dozen or so firms, that provide leads to big insurance companies. They're interested in owning as many variations on "car insurance quotes, rates, comparison, etc." as possible.

Thanks for the input. Any more appraisals?
