I hope I'm starting to learn how to pick up great domains. :B

Submitted for your approval:

CureFound.com

I think this could be pretty great, since it's generic but also meaningful!

The cure has been found!

The cure to what? Cancer? Obesity? Shyness? High prices?

Anything.

So am I entirely wrong and this is worthless? (It's possible, eh?)

Ah, hello, I am a different guy. I appraise this domain at five million dollars.

Good day to you, sir!

LOL

I do not have enough knowledge to give you a value but I suspect that those that do would say this is not worth much. There are very very few searches for this a month on google and even when extended to aids cure found, where there are 800 exact searches a month the CPC is 0.

I think with a name like this if you were to develop into something it would have value as the name is catchy.

Warm regards,

Anthony

Hi there,

I wont appraise this domain, but will try to give u some advice.

When you get a domain, you should get one with an obvious value, unless you know clearly what your gonna do with it.
What separates good domainers from "not so good" ones is that they don't leave domaining to chance or luck, they have a plan and a good amount of knowledge to see it through.
If I ask you, whom would you sell CureFound and how much do you think its worth, and you say you dont know, I would say its value is 0 in your hands..
Dont get me wrong, domains are worth what others are ready to pay for them and what you can make them to be.

This name is just crappy....Below reg fee..or free :D

in itself the domain is worth little since it isn't a normal phrase and the keyword isn't that strong. It has almost no exact searches on Google's keyword tool.
The only way to make money from this domain is development but then we're talking about the value of development and not the value of the domain.

Thanks for the info, folks.

As for "who could I sell this to" - I definitely had an answer. Anyone selling any sort of "cure". Holistic, corporate, psychological or - dare I say it - snake oil. (Since usually you have no idea if the buyer is a moral person.)

"The cure for obesity has been found! Try our diet plan at CureFound.com"
"The cure for smoking addiction has been found! [...]"
"The cure for the common cold has been found! [...]"

And so on...

I figured it had rather a lot of prospective buyers, but I accept that I was mistaken. :)

as hinted to

curefound.com is vague

"hiv cure found", makes sense, because you know what the cure was for

also, this assumption below will alway be false, unless you had/have received inquiries or offers relating to your domain.

I figured it had rather a lot of prospective buyers, but I accept that I was mistaken.

Don't throw it away, motorhed! You could develop the name or find someone who wants a name like that. It's not a bad name! I'll hang on to it for a while if I were you!

I agree it's not terrible as well. Over reg fee for sure. you could always create subdomains polio.curefound.com cancer.curefound acne.curefound.com

I'm not exactly sure how you would develop it though.

Good name! Keep it & develop it.
You could even ask an organisation to buy it or use it for an event.

I don't think it's a mistake either. It's not a great domain but nobody's saying it's awful. You can still make a small profit with it or develop it in a nice site. I think most of us have domains like these. They're not great but are worth more than regfee.

. . . actually, motorhed, you've got an interested buyer here. PM with your asking price and let's negotiate!

It's not a mistake but it's not great either.

the main value it would have would be if you were able to find someone to buy it or if you were to spend a lot of time and effort developing it.

it has potential, but making it worth anything would take more time and effort than the value you'd create by doing so, at least to me.
