you'd have to ask Moniker about their drop/returns policy for dot.travel. You've had the name for 26 days so I doubt you can do anything about it now, you're stuck with it for a year. Pull up the name on Moniker, then take a pencil eraser and try to erase the name off your computer screen. If that doesn't work, I think you're hooped

The only thing I can think of to do with it is have it as a holiday emergency site, everyone knows that 999 is the emergency services number in England so that connection could fit quite well.

However, it will be tough to develop, not least because barely anyone knows about the extension

ok you need to have something to do with the travel industry to reguster a .travel so it seems youve done the hard work. 999 is a 110k exact keyword search i presume mainly from the UK. The emergency aspect which has been touched on makes it brandable, and i think to a travel company potentially to have 110k visitors each month would be great!

Target end users in the travel industry, airlines, etc.

I think this domain has value. I dont know how much reg fees are for .travel but i would think over $1000 would not be unreasonable to ask from a UK firm.

Yes, there were a lot of formalities involved.

I dont know how much reg fees are for .travel but i would think over $1000 would not be unreasonable to ask from a UK firm.

Reg fee is $90. From the appraisals above, I think that if I can get rid of it at Reg fee itself, I'll be relieved.

Coming to your suggestion, could you give any leads on how to find and contact potential UK buyers for this domain?

I think you need to hold off doing any development with it.. and sell it to end users. There is the emergency aspect but also think about the budget airlines who offer flights for £9.99 thats a big thing, or the hotel room resellers who sell rooms for £9.99 or even hosterlworld which do hostel rooms. All i suggest is dont develop too much which may harm the value in this instance, maybe a 1 page site about travel with some good unique content. I suppose theres no harm in a few ads.

You really need somone who can send out mails and put a bit of time into promoting your domain.

Im kind of surprised you spent $90 regging a name without a plan.. though luckily its not a complete dud!

$999, $9.99 it it is not built in stone,simply a suggestion. Yes, many hotel/travel affiliates around but would require work.

FYI- As an indicator on how .travel are perceived.

UnitedStates.travel is available to register, America.travel is expired and will probably drop soon.Both worth going for if you have development ideas.

At reg fees of around $90 you need a plan or a buyer lined up!
