I could use some help appraising this domain: PlanetHotels.com Registered in 1998 I had initially planned on developing as part of a much larger Travel network. I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Your domain is not bad
You've got Hotels and the less important Planet + .com

It's difficult to give exact price but I would say 150$ in the best case.
The potential comes from the hotels that can be used for the hotel and tourist sector.
The problem comes with the planet... Ii you had a multi planetary hotel chain that would be a gold domain to have... Sadly, we still live on one planet still, so the potential is very small.

This domain is minimum mid xxxx for end users. high xxx to low xxxx reseller. I could see this selling for xx,xxx to the ideal end user. The comps are there for planet+word.com on namebio.
