Does Google really count them as backlinks ? these contentless site pages normally have over 100 links, So is there a possibility that Google might take them as link farms ?

Yes it will be noted as link farms on google if they have moe than 100 links
you just only get visitors when a visitor of a site clicks on your ads

But Google seems doesnt have any beef against those pixel sites. Even some sites have really good page ranks.

That's because they're getting insane amounts of backlinks from other sites. I guess google assumes its a link farm if the site itself has few backlinks from other sites.

I think Google can penalise sites in different ways. One way is to wipe out PR; another is to stop links out from passing PR. Having PR doesn't show that Google treats them just like any other page.

most pixel sites use redirects such as /linkid=5 anyway so google ignores them and it dont help you

in short pixel sites are a waste of time
very small amounts of traffic from visitors
