The Wait Is Over! v2.0 of phpArcadeScript is ready to be released!
The phpArcadeScript went live last night really late but I forgot to announce it until this morning ...
Anyways ... here is an almost complete run down of the new features on phpArcadeScript v2.0.
MD5 User Password Encryption + Password Reset + Password Changes
All user passwords on your arcade will now be encrypted using MD5, meaning a user's password of "mypassword" could look something like 5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99. And because of the usage of MD5 to encrypt the passwords, we have added a Password Reset feature. If a user forget his/her password, they can enter their email address into a box and a new random password will be emailed to them. They can then go into their EDIT PROFILE page and enter their current password and then enter their new password.
Private Messaging System
Users can now send private messages to one another. v2.0 has a built in messaging system allowing more interaction between your members. Administration has the option of turning this feature on/off as well as limit the amount of messages a user can have in their private message inbox.
Member Newsletter System
Arcade Owners who have turned on Members option can send out e-mail newsletters to their members via email, private message, or both! This feature also keeps an archive of the newsletters you send including the last sent date so you can resend newsletters if need be, etc.
Supports MORE FILE TYPES
v2.0 adds support for video files, images/photos and even music files (including MP3s)! This is on top of already supporting SWF and DCR files. There is also a CUSTOM CODE option to enter custom HTML or PHP code if the file type is not supported ... this comes in very handy when a website allows you to add their game, but instead of getting the game file, they give you some code to use to display the game.
BAN IP Addresses
We have also implemented the ability to ban ip addresses from accessing your arcade. If a banned IP address tries to access your arcade, you also have the option to display a message to the banned ip addresses (i.e. Arcade Down for Construction) or even leave it blank ... and that's all the person would see. IP tracking has been added to all comments and private messages, so with just the click of a button in the admin control panel you can ban the ip of the annoying spammer or whatnot. You can also manually add and delete IP addresses from the banned list.
Advertiser and Banner Manager
- Ability to use banner ads, text ads or custom ads (i.e. Adsense Code! AdEngage Code! etc.)
- Track Impressions, Clicks and Click-Thru Rates
- Advertising Zones (i.e. you can setup a zone for the top of the game, bottom of the game, actually anywhere you want with the addition of just 2 lines of code!). You can also put a specific ad in up to 3 ad zones. If more than one ad is in an ad zone, the script will choose an ad at random to display.
- Advertiser Database (advertiser name, contact name, email address and even website URL if you wish). The URL aspect is really handy for those advertisers (i.e. adengage, adbrite, etc.) where they have a weird place to login to your account. Just place the URL in the box and then it will be hyperlinked when you look at the ad.
Custom Page Creation and Manager
From the control panel you can now create custom pages for your arcade. Each page will have its own Meta Tag Title, Keywords and Description as well as the content itself can be normal text or even HTML! The script will also show you the linking code to your new page (i.e. http://www.arcadegamezone.com/index.php?pageid=1)
Visting Player Credits System
This feature allows an arcade website owner to limit the number of game plays a GUEST can have in a 24 hour period before being required to register. (Admin can turn on/off this option and set the maximum amount of games).
New and Improved Users Online Counter
v2.0 has recoded the online users counter and its better than ever. Not only does it give an accurate count of online user by using an actual users log, it will also display the number of guests and members online PLUS list all the member's usernames who are online!
Image Verification on Tell-A-Friend and Adding Comments
Before sending a Tell-A-Friend or adding a comment to your arcade, a user is required to enter a Image Verification code into a box ... if the code is incorrect, they will not be able to send the Tell-A-Friend or add the comment to the game.
Image Verification option can be turned on/off in the Admin Control Panel.
Search Engine Friendly URLS using MOD REWRITE
v2.0 also added a Search Engine Friendly URL system using MOD REWRITE ... so instead of the long URLS such as http://www.arcadegamezone.com/index.php?action=playgame&gameid=87 you can just go to http://www.arcadegamezone.com/games/3-Foot-Ninja-2 ... and if you do turn on this option, your old long urls will still work, thus not hurting your positions in search engines.
SE Friendly option can be turned on/off in the Admin Control Panel.
Auto Sizing of Games, Images, Videos, Etc.
Now in v2.0 when you add a new game (or image, video, etc.) you have the option of having the script AUTO SIZE that file for you. Cutting down on a lot of painstaking time going thru and trying to figure out the right size of the file. To make this feature even more useful, we've add a MAXIUM FILE WIDTH and FILE HEIGHT that you can configure and the script will deteremine if the file exceeds either of these, and if it does exceed either or both, the script will autosize it down! The script does not physically alter the files, rather just auto-sizes the display of the files.
Admin Notes
On the main page of the admin control panel you now can leave yourself notes that will be displayed each time you login to the control panel. Very helpful with reminders and remembering special events (i.e. 100th game played, 2000th member).
Send in Support Questions via the Control Panel
v2.0 makes receiving support and contacting phpArcadeScript even simplier by implementing a Submit Support Ticket via your admin control panel. When you click on this link you will be taken to a form to fill out with your support request. Then the ticket is emailed to the correct department ... all this without leaving your control panel!
Arcade Resource Page in the Control Panel
We have also added an Arcade Resource Page that will be automatically updated with new resources to help build your arcade ... lists of places to download games, arcade top sites, directories to submit to, and much much more!
phpArcadeScript Owners
We wanted to give back as much to the phpArcadeScript owners as possible for making the script what is it today and what a better way than sharing in sales of phpArcadeScript!
