Hi, I am looking for more of a PHP script as the main page and the rest would not need anything fancy and just basic text as I would do all the visual and HTML parts myself. Now I'm looking for a quote as if its not in my price range whatsoever I may abandon the project all together. I also realize that this may require MySQL or some other type of database system as it would need somewhere to store all those converted links.
The site would be like no_url_shorteners, but instead of the website making a short URL of random letters and numbers that when entered into the browser will redirect the user to the whatever webpage he wanted, the user at the beginning would enter what he wants the text to say and then the site would take that text and turn it into a link that will redirect him to whatever website he wanted.
Ex.
User inputs in the URL redirect box www.google.com
User inputs the name he wants the site to show, ex. "the google page"
He submits, website/script gives a new page with a preview url of www.mydomain.com/the_google_page which when clicked will actually redirect the user to google.com. Underscores are just an example for spaces but I would prefer that if the user inputs something with a space the link generated would try and separate the words. There should also be a limitation on how may and what characters the user can input for his custom description. I basically want it to work the same as TinyURL but instead of getting a link with random characters and numbers I want the user to be able to specify what those letters and numbers are. The redirect URLs should also stay active forever unless manually deleted by the admin, so the user can use the custom URL given by the site "www.mydomain.com/the_google_page" even months later.
So how many "points" would this take?
Also I see that there are free open source TinyURL scripts out there which in theory should make things easier.
