Namejet hasn't even secured the domain yet, but there were several bidders on a domain so it pushed the pending deletion domain into an auction. But this isn't even a Namejet exclusive domain so what's the purpose of this? To see who can pay the most just to secure the first spot if they do get the domain? If they don't secure it then all this effort was a waste of time. Shouldn't they secure it first (based on the fact that there are several bidders already) then hold this auction?

It's only a waste of time for you, not Namejet. The more excitement and interest they can generate, the more they will make.

Getting you ready for an auction now, rather than on the day the domain drops and they get it (if they get it), give you time to max out your credit cards or hit up family and friends for a loan. :)

Don't encourage them. Don't join the auction and don't even pay for a drop catcher. Just wait until the domain drops and try to get it then. Oh, it's a really good domain? Then I guess you have no choice.

Wait, actually you do: Sign up with many OTHER drop catchers. This will give you a better chance of getting the domain and avoiding the auction. And I would still try to hand reg it the day it drops, it sounds like it might be worth the effort. What did you say the name was...???

so is Snapnames auctions allow proxy bids, and Namejet auctions based on highest bid?
