Hi,
I just started reading more about security issues since this happened to me, I can't remember much details but will try my best.
The random security check happened as I was making a payment via my registrar-generated paypal link. The link went to an older version paypal payment form then there was the random check which required me to input the bank info I had attached to my account.
I do trust both my registrar and paypal (not entirely but enough) so I did that but next step was for me to change my password. It wasn't gonna let me pay if I didn't which was odd because if they wanted only to verify my identity, why would they need that extra step?
I did both anyway. Now, is there a reason why the password didn't work if it's generated by trusted sites? It was still my old password that worked. .. Well, I don't know why but at that and to this point I feel like I got phished. So I decided to quickly change my password via paypal.com this time around.
I contacted my registrar about it right away and was told that the random check sounds normal but me being asked for a new password and for it not to work isn't. I took the issue to paypal forum but I haven't got any responses yet. I've yet to directly write to them.
Before I do, wondering if anyone's got a similar case?
