I don't know if this is the right area to post in, so forgive me if it is not, but here goes...

I created a personal paypal account to start trading with, and recieved a first payment of £100. Next time I logged in I was informed that my account was limited, and the payment was held by PayPal for investigation.

Then I phoned up paypal to try and figure out what was the matter, and after waiting for ages on the phone, the person on the other end said I had to lift my account limitation before I could unlock my £100. So I've uploaded all the neccessary files etc, to paypal, and I'm waiting for them to drop the two small amounts of money so I can verify the card and bank details.

Anyone had any experience with Paypal and account limitation? Any advice? Because I would like to have my money back and my account back to normal so I can start trading soon. How long does the process take, anyone had this happen to them?

PS. Please no-one suggest changing to e-Gold or WorldPay, because I am NOT leaving £100 sitting in that account. It's my money and I'll be fu**** if I'm letting Paypal have it.

Thanks for your help, all suggestions and advice welcome.

Yes, you are right. Paypal somehow always favors buyer's more than a seller''s. Also disputed related digital goods, scripts are very tough to deal with. In short if you are a seller and selling digital goods via paypal then make sure each and every steps. Or else if Buyer raise a dispute then there is 90% of change to loose the dispute.

Paypal has an impossible to deal with phone system. They actually make it hard to find their phone number because they don't want to deal with customers.

I can't say I'm very fond of paypal- they've screwed over alot of my friends who owned online businesses. Basically, they froze their account and refused to tell them why and held their money for like 48 days or something. It forced them to close.

As far as your situation, it sounds like they just want to verify your bank account- and you should be back up and running when they finish this. I had to do it, too.

But as far as paypal being the best, I would much rather if everyone switched to Google's payment system. I mean, paypal is after all owned by evilbay.

Yeah PayPal can be kind of annoying. They froze my account for some reason and then I had to call them but before I could get half a sentence out the guy was like "Okay I have put your account back to normal". So I was pretty satisfied with their customer support.
