I bought an item off of eBay for a couple hundred dollars, it was advertised like it was an excellent item... and the pictures showed it - atleast the ones he uploaded to the auction. Needless to say, the item it now worthless, and after two weeks of telling the guy that and him saying there is nothing wrong with it (Even after multiple pictures showing him what was wrong with it), he will not do anything about it. I would like to file a claim with Paypal... but one thing that I've learned with Paypal is that if they have a tracking number or proof that you received the item, Paypal will not give a refund.

That was awhile back, is that how it is still today? If he has a tracking number (I know he does), am I out of my money now? Or will Paypal give at least some of my money back as the item was misrepresented?

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

You can file a dispute with paypal saying the item was not as described. Go to PayPal and file a dispute. It takes time but it has worked for me when I had a problem.

If you receive an item that is significantly not as described or you do not receive the item at all after a given period of time, you can file a dispute and escalate it to a claim.

If you purchased the item on eBay, you’ll receive free protection for the full value of the item (including postage).

If you purchased the item from any other website, you may be eligible for protection – providing the amount is available from the seller - from PayPal’s Buyer Complaint Policy.

Thats what I was looking forward to hearing Sabre. :) From that it says I should be getting every penny that the scammer got. I hope that's true and not just for the items that people didn't receive.

Thanks all. :)

I would say "significantly not as described" would account for 'broken' :imho:

Best of luck.
