Myself and my buddy understand HTML and have both developed websites, but nothing like the adventure we are on now. We have a certain website domain for a certain city. How much would you think we would have to pay a company to design a website for a specific city in mind? For instance so we can book hotels, flights, pictures of the hotels/rooms, message board, newsletter, ect.................. your thoughts.

I think one GOOD design will cost you US$ 1000,00. But you and your friend can pick up one free theme of all available in the web and begin tasting your skills :)

We thought it would be around 1,000 as well. 500 each is a small price to pay as we are both pretty busy. And, we can always make what ever changes we need with the html and such.

If you are talking a "website" (just design and html coding) you are looking at anywhere from $200-$1000 for a decent job. If you are looking for a functional website coded with PHP and a backend system you are looking at anywhere from $1000-$3000 for a decent job, and you need to know sort of what the designer/programmer is doing so you don't get taken advantage of.

x2,

Sounds like you would want a backend.

I have gotten pretty complicated sites developed by an extremely competent programmer based in china for around $1500 total, but I provided EXACT documentation on what I wanted and I created HTML mockups of how every page should look (including complicated admin backend). People who just say stuff like "I want a site like amazon.com" end up with either a hack job or a readily available cloned script that will make your site function just like everyone elses.

To get a good job done you need to know exactly what it is you want them to do.

Of course if its customized then yes its in the thousands but you don't need all those flashes just a simple website to get your point across and have your visitors wanting more. I see you're going local. Thats where the money is at. :)

Its not the design that will cost a lot, its the development. For that sort of functionality you should budget a couple of grand or more, depending on where your programmer is located...

better mate, you give the full details of the project and ask for a quote f so you would know how much money will be spent for it.
