To those of you with the big bucks who buy domain names regularly, would a domain having a medium to high PageRank affect your decision to purchase or not purchase?

If the answer is yes, how high would the PageRank have to be for you to get serious?

For me, I deem PageRank to be quite important because it is sorted by THE most important and most expreienced search engine on the internet. This triggers, for me, to think that it is quite an important aspect.

I dont think that just the domain's pagerank would sway my descision to buy a name, but the pagerank of a WEBSITE would do!

Thanks for the response, Jiblob! :)

So how high would the PageRank have to be? Would PR4 be high enough?

I suppose PR 5, PR 6, PR 7 would be good enough to increase a domain's value to some extent and might prompt people with big bucks who buy domains regularly.

Yeah PR is important - but be aware that there are at least two ways to fake it - a 301 or 302 redirect to a site with high PR, and a lot of links from sites the seller owns and will soon move on to the next site for sale.

If you are concerned about ranking high in the search engines, then it isn't so important (a PR2 site can rank higher than a PR5).

If I'm looking to buy a site just because of PR, I would want at least a PR6. I think up to PR 4 is relatively easy to achieve, and PR5 can be done with more effort. Getting to six is where it starts getting more difficult (without having a larger budget).

PR is a complete farce & anyone serious about the domain business wouldn't let it sway their opinion.

Considering how much you can sell links for on high PR sites, I wouldn't consider it a "complete farce". It isn't, though, as important as people think it is in terms of rankings.

We all want to be high in the SERPs, and worrying about PR isn't how to do that...if that's what you're getting at.
