The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

For sale page listed in Google but not the main page?

I have noticed this issue before and wondering how adversely it impacts search engine traffic and ppc income? It seems like a big negative to me.

With some of my parked.com names the parked page is not listed or ranked in Google however oddly the domain for sale page is.

For example, if I type in the google search box my url, the for sale page ranks high (sometimes even #1) with this:

"Inquire about domainname.com. To inquire about this domain, please complete and submit the following form. Bold fields are required..."

but the main ppc page is no where to be found in G?

Any way to stop this from happening because I care much more about ppc income compared to a very rare sale possibility?

The five day period he spoke of is referring to stats, not keywords.

I'd say, and probably Donny also, don't remove phrases/keywords from the drag and drop "Related Words" menu box and place them in the "Removed Keywords" box since the system keys off of user searches......it will know better than you what folks are searching for in the long run after it has a history to key off of. Just remove anything that might be offensive or trademark related from this section.

However, if you are unhappy with the page's content.....then reset the main site "Keyword" in the single rectangular box, which is above the "Related Words" box and that will reset all the "Related Words" with new keywords.

Hi Seabass, Happy New Year to you and also everyone else while I am at it
:lala:

Now.. are you sure about the five day thing relating to stats and not keywords?

I certainly haven't a clue, but here is the quote from Donny, I think its page 275 or 276 of this thread.

Per Donny, referring to cameras.com:

"So let's say nobody clicks or searches on "booger" that is on a domain, then within 5 days the keyword will be removed and you never had to do a thing. No extra work besides adding the domain."

==============
Now I certainly would never call myself a "pro" at this game - I need a tutorial on the whole parked.com system rather than blindly following my own subjective, imagined hunches.

So - objectively - what is the best tips for optimising a parked.com page?

Perhaps if between us we could do a wiki on the topic??? Then we could have a template everyone could work from.

But how do we get the objective facts rather than hunches??

Sorry, I have been at the inlaws all week and won't be home until tonight. But let me clarify one more thing. If you have a primary keyword set to "funky cold madina" and your domain doesn't ever get any hits our learning system will not remove "bad" keywords. Now this doesn't mean that you should remove them either, because if the domain doesn't get any traffic you will just be wasting your own time.

A reply to post #7153 above would be appreciated as it is quite important.

If you don't care about domain inquiry, you can block it.

Rather than try to block it was actually wondering why for sale info would get indexed so well in G but not the parked page itself? Seems like it should be the other way around especially odd since parked.com benefits from the ppc page and not the for sale page.

l2ride55 - If they are all new domains and have never been "added" to your account, they will "never" show up. It is a mass modidy, not a mass adder. :)

trader - Sometimes it seems like Google likes whatever it likes. I've seen some domains where google only seems to index that pagea and seen others where google won't index it at all. If you are relying on traffic from Google to make money, you won't make much at this point. Call any traffic from google lagniappe.

Hey Guys (and Gals)

How long does it take for 400/500 domains you "import" through the new .csv import process to show in your CP? Do they end up in the "default" folder?

An hour, day? Any idea?

Thanks in advance

L2

I haven't edited quite that many at a time yet - I have most of mine split up into portfolios already; I think the most I edited at one shot was about 200. Took about 10 minutes.

If you don't specify a portfolio, it should go into default, I would think.

Oh - Donny slipped in. I didn't realize you were talking about new domains. No, you have to add them first, and then you can modify them.

Don't worry, when I was alpha testing the product I asked the same question. :)

Devil's advocate :|
One thing I see not so hot with affiliate links and banners on a parked lander is 'What's in it for the parking company supplying the landing page? It's great I guess for those that allow it but I could understand why they may not.

Yesterday's stats update delayed, I take it?

Something interesting would be to have 5 ads appear on a page rather than 10. And with the option of a tab "next" to view the next 5 ads. The space saved would help us add user content on top and below the ads. This way, the ads would blend pretty well with the content. Plus..we may see a higher RPC. But again, we might get hit with a low TQ score if only the top 5 ads get clicked more. Hmm..

Here's an example... ( a trafficz lander)

The good about having 5 links on every parking company would be possibly higher RPC since it would be the highest paying 5 advertisers.

The bad is that those 5 would be getting slammed with a much higher number of clicks and probably be forced to lower their bids and the ones that are currently paying lower would just remain low as well since that's probably the most they can bid. EDIT() Meaning the higher RPC was short lived :)

I could be wrong D-:
