Netmeg - The arbitrage was a small piece overall.

dndude - wow. Not even the inverse of that.

Ok netmeg. I will be a good boy lol. Just had to do that post.

Need to send you a PM on a non parked.com or parking issue netmeg. Enjoying the snow in Ann arbor?

Donny won't comment on this nor should he. I am sure the percent is high. High single digits or 15 percent maybe?? I don't know.

Actually with this news and etc there is a couple ways to make money on this lol

1. Buy puts on yahoo
2. Short the stock

I may do this when they report there earnings next quarter.

I suppose more to the point, how much of Parked's gross was from arbi? Not that I'm expecting an answer :)
10000 domains that maybe each generate 20 typo clicks a day vs 200 arbi domain each generating 1000 clicks/day... I know which would be the larger contributor to the bottom line...

I never used arbitrage and I don't even know how to do it. I never realized there was that much money involved...wow!

John Doe,

I agree completly. Nothing is lost as monies to be spent on advertising will still be spent.

My suggestion for Google is throw the damn "this ad by Google" out. It is old and outdated. Any new symbol will probably be the best investment made for click thrus.

Most online visitors are clearly turned off by the old "this ad by Google" above every link.

To back up the claim that it is not just Parked who has been doing this, we all remember a couple weeks ago the email from Trafficz that they are now strickly forbidding argitrage now.

man...just do a search on google for any generic terms...antivirus, credit reports, etc

...every parked page is a parked.com page.

It's going to be weird to see it all disappear.

Don't trust your TQ scores as a proof of the quality of arbitrage traffic. I can't believe, the majority of the advertisers on the Yahoo feed have conversion trackback codes on their thank you, success pages. I personally use my own tracking codes not theirs when i advertise. Without a feedback data from most of the advertisers, how can they set an accurate TQ score? I dont understand this thing very well.

We never seem to run out of PHP and MySQL projects to work on.

NO. It took me an hour and 25 minutes tonight to go the three miles between the office and my home. THREE MILES.

It's not going to disappear. People will still park. Heck, I am not planning on moving my several hundred domains out of Parked, except for a couple I will likely develop.

Are you crazy dude? MSN and google just lost minimum of 15k a month from me and yahoo just lost the revenue on the back of the traffic I was sending through parked. I dont have developed sites I have parking pages. Where they hell am I going to spend that now? Nowhere because I now dont have a site to advertise. This WILL decrease these companies earnings

he is not crazy
it is only advertiser's money on the table anyway.
yea you loose 15 k to them, but you take 25 - 30 k out, you are actually taking the advertiser's money out doing the arbitraging, the same like the someone doing arbitraging on sports betting, there is only better's money on the table, the arbitrager just take out a piece of it using the leverage of different odds.

google and msn is just like the dealer>.< they can't loose in term of statistic.

I should try that; I've just been using the regular namepros.com interface on my iPod Touch.

THis new banning of arbitrage is really a battle between traffic, and quality traffic, because yahoo obviously prefers some types of traffic to others. The bad news for domainers is partly that worse domain names with slushy, "pumped-up traffic" will get back to more mediocre performances, and good domain names with natural, probably less quantity, but quality traffic will get rewarded more. good domaining = quality domain names.

It sounds like its time to start running arb on minisites as there will probably be a lot less advertisers to compete with. It's possible the RPC on the minisites will go down as well so affiliates might be the best option.
