Well .biz isn't such a popular extensions, but try to develop ( pictures, news, trivia, ... ) and maybe you get a high position over time in search engine and that could bring in a lot of revenue and potential buyers for this domain.

These names are virtually worthless. I'd dump due to fair use restrictions and .BIZ ending. IMO.

Waste of money plus a guaranteed tm issue too.

Not worth it.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your opinion Samit.

Is it not fair to say that TM domains do have a value. Would it not be better to pay a relatively small price to buy the domain rather than pay lawyers large fees to try and get the domain with no guarantee of gaining ownership?

Kind regards

I think that in some case (small companies f.e.) it's true. It's best to pay a small amount. But i think that Paris Hilton will have a lot of lawyers (plus the Hilton Hotels ones) and she spend 10.000$ for a pair of shoes. so she will certainly doesn't care to sue anyone.

Thank you donnied79 for your opinion. I agree that Paris Hilton can sue and probably get the domain and not worry about the cost. The only issue for her would be time!! While the domain is pointing to an adult site and her nude videos are about, she may want to obtain the domain quickly, therefore a small fee may be a much smarter way for her to obtain the domain.

Kind regards

Yes tm domains do have value insofar as allowing the registrant, who is not the tm holder, to gain financial benefit from someone else's intellectual property. Its unethical, to put it very mildly.

If you're talking about the tm owner paying you, this is what is called cybersquatting. You are trying to make a profit off someone else's name and fame. This is one of the primary reasons why people dislike domaining and domainers are perceived as cybersquatters.

Plus this opens you up to civil suits and potential damages if the tm owner decides to proceed against you in civil court instead of via UDRP. Do you really have the wherewithal to take on the tm holder in a legal battle? Or do your earnings justify a possible million dollar claim, coz the lady's brand is worth at least that much and she has the cash to defend it? Is the potential risk of losing your house, car and bank balance even worth it?

Has paris hilton TM her name?

UPDATE.

Paris hilton does have a trademark on her name, but but but, its only in the US. In fact i just found this on google and it seems paris likes trademarks

By way of background (not available at The Smoking Gun), Paris Hilton has filed thirty-six (36) U.S. trademark applications, three of which for โ€œTHATโ€™S HOTโ€ (U.S. Trademark Application Nos. 76/604206, 76/615015, and 77/163240), and one of which (76/604206) issuing as U.S. Trademark Reg. No. 3,209,488.

Celebrities and other 'famous' people automatically acquire all rights to their names and all profits from it.

I could quote case law here but i think you get the gist.

Good Luck with this and your future registrations!

OK Samit. I will take your advice and just sit on the domain and if/when they come calling i will just ask them to cover my costs. Kind regards

Read this again. Please.

Its not an honest thing to do and it makes domaining look bad.

Surprised you had this one linda due to the fact most of your names are great from what i have seen , but i feel this one is trouble , i wish you luck but the value is perhaps in a redirection to something that is not trouble ?

Cybersquatters assume TM holders will buy the domain for an amount less than the $1,500 UDRP fee to save hassle. If I had a TM on my name, was an heir to a hotel fortune, and made $XXX,XXX from public appearances, and somebody was cybersquatting my name, I would not go down the UDRP route, I would sue them through a top TM lawyer. Then when I got the domain back, I would publicise the outcome and how much the other party incurred in legal costs to discourage others cybersquatting my name or infringing my trademark in general.

Also time would not be an issue for Paris Hilton, she would be advised by the people who monitor these things for her what to do and they would do everything for her. I doubt they would inform her of the outcome until the end of the case.
