Paris to serve less than half her time

Without even spending a night behind bars, celebutante Paris Hilton has been given time off...for good behaviour!

The hotel heiress will also not have to suffer the indignation of spending time with the general public, but will instead be housed in a 'special needs' section of the prison.

Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore has confirmed that Paris will spend 23 days - a day over half her sentence - at the Century Regional Detention Centre in Lynwood, a suburb in Los Angeles.

Hilton will share her cell with only one other inmate, with the unit holding 12 cells designed to incarcerate police officers, public officials, and celebs, to remove them from the general public.

Paris will only be allowed outside her cell for one hour a day, in which she'll have to shower, watch television, get outdoors exercise, and make phone calls.

And how did they come to the conclusion that Paris should be given time off for good behaviour? Well, she turned up for her court date!

Hilton is set to begin her stay at the State of California's expense on June 5.

Previously, Hilton had moaned that the 45 day sentence was harsh, and unwarranted, before firing first her publicist Elliott Mintz, then rehiring him, before teaming with a different lawyer, driving under the influence specialist Richard Hutton.

Man, I seriously should become a judge for the town of hollywood & area, because theres no way that this sh*t would happen with me. How can it be considered good behaviour if she hasn't even served time yet! Man, I can't believe this. Why do celebs always get it off easy lol

Um... I hate Paris Hilton and what she stands for but let's clear up some common misconceptions.

She didn't "buy" her way into the "special" ward, she was placed into that by the jail to ensure she wouldn't get targetted by fellow inmates as a result of her celebrity status.

Secondly, there is terrible overcrowding in California jails (hey, we commit a lot of crimes). This sort of relaxing of sentences is very common where the convicted was jailed for a non-violent crime or just as a result of an accumulation of lesser offenses.

Yes, celebrities do tend to get lighter punishments *cough* OJ *cough*, but I don't feel this is one of those cases...

She should serve the full sentance in the 'normal' part of the prison imo. Then again, I probably just think that because I despise her.

Personally, I'm not a big believer in jail solving anything.. she should have to pay a heavy fine and do some community service IMO..

I'm betting she's not nearly as weird, spoiled, or stupid as the media would have us believe..

I'm with you on the second part. However, would Paris really care about a fine?

Either way, fines are collected for a reason.. helps finance city government for example.

Did you know that over 6 million people are in the prison system in the USA? :'( Faaaar more than any other country.

Given the nature of the offense, she should have to do community service and serve a few days, however 45 is outrageous.

I once was pulled over for speeding late on a Saturday night. I was out partying the entire day and after some heavy tequila shooting, I passed out for few hours until I got a call from a friend demanding a ride because he is too wasted.

The police pulled me over and said they could smell alcohol and had me do roadsides. I was asked to close my eyes, put my fingers on my nose and lean back while determining how long 30 seconds had been once the officer said to start. I wasn't phased and called the 30 seconds within a quarter of a second. I was also asked to walk the line and to count backwards from 95 by Threes. I can see how a test like this may not be so simple for Paris. After I passed the tests and the cops promised to let me go and. they asked if I wanted to blow into the breathalyzer. I blew a BAC of .08 (same as Paris). The cops gave me a speeding ticket and made me walk home. ---All this and I was under 21.--

Most people I know who have had a single DUI get 5 - 10 days of jail time that can usually be done as a work release.

Yeah but most people don't get caught behind the wheel three times after they've been banned :|

Three times?

the charge with a 45 day tag on it was for "driving on a suspended license" yes?

I saw that she and her lawyer plead ignorance to the charges, stating that they thought she had been reinstated after three months not six months.

Now, Paris becomes a cheeky prison doll!
From our ANI Correspondent

London, May 19: Paris Hilton's approaching jail sentence is apparently proving to be a big lucrative business.

The socialite's impending prison term has inspired a line of merchandising, which includes T-shirts, mugs and prisoner-Paris dolls.

The dolls, clad in crude versions of the uniform that the 26-year-old will wear in jail, have attracted numerous bids on internet auction sites.

Sandy Kelley, who sells the dolls and has been getting huge interest on internet auctions said that considering her yearning for media attention, Paris would not have any problems with the cheeky dolls.

"I'm sure Paris wouldn't mind. Everyone knows how she loves to be the centre of attention," the Daily Express quoted Sandy, as saying.

But while she will get none of the returns from the sales, Paris has found a way to earn money through her sentence.

The hotel heiress is rumoured to be in talks about a book and TV deal detailing her 23-day stay in a Los Angeles jail.

I'm not so sure she's that bad.. the media has a tendency to sctutinize and blow everything a celeb does out of proportion.

Not sure about up there, but I think down here it would be illegal to pay her to be on TV - it would be profitting from a crime.

Some LA Inmates Already Angry at Hilton

By AMANDA BECK

LYNWOOD, Calif. -- Many women at the Los Angeles County jail where Paris Hilton is expected to arrive any day are already angry at the socialite, a former inmate said.

Susannah Johnson, who was released Saturday after a one-day stay at the jail, said inmates were angry at Hilton, believing officials were making room for the starlet at the expense of other inmates already coping with crowded conditions in the 2,200-bed jail.

"The only advice I could give her when she comes is to shut her mouth and do the time," said Johnson, 35, of Claremont.

Hilton has been ordered to turn herself in by Tuesday to begin her sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Some 15 photographers, reporters and television crews staked out positions at three entrances to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. Authorities had also cordoned off a grassy area outside the jail for members of the media.

"Today, Paris is the story," said Robert Penfold, a TV reporter with Australia's Nine Network.

As of Saturday night, however, the hotel heiress had yet to appear. By then, most of the media had packed up their folding chairs and tripods, though a handful of remaining reporters bundled up in the cooling temperatures.

Adrian Sanchez, a photographer with Agencia Efe, a Spanish language wire service, said he was "bored, hungry and cold."

The 13-year-old jail, five miles south of downtown Los Angeles, has been an all-female facility since March 2006. The two-story concrete building sits in an industrial neighborhood, beside train tracks and beneath a bustling freeway.

Though a judge sentenced her to 45 days behind bars, Hilton is expected to serve only 23 days because of a state law that requires shorter sentences for good behavior, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Once she arrives, the "Simple Life" star will be housed in the jail's "special needs" unit.

Like other inmates in the special-needs area, Hilton will take her meals in her cell and will be allowed outside the 12-foot-by-8-foot space for at least an hour each day to shower, watch TV in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone.

Inmates are not allowed to bring cell phones into the jail.

Besides a decidedly unglamorous orange jumpsuit, inmates are issued a standard-issue kit that includes: a toothbrush, tube of toothpaste, soap, a comb, deodorant, shampoo and shaving implements, along with a jail-issued pencil, stationery, envelopes and stamps.

Officers arrested Hilton in Hollywood on Sept. 7. In January, she pleaded no contest to the reckless-driving charge and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

She was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on Jan. 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She was pulled over again by sheriff's deputies Feb. 27 and was charged with violating her probation.

Woman Thrown Out of Jail Trying to Sneak Paris Hilton Pictures
Written by Buck E Filbert
Story written: 05 June 2007Story not rated

A female paparazzi was thrown out of the, Century Regional Detention Facility, now known as, "THE PARIS HILTON", today when it was discovered she was an imposter posing as a prisoner that was suppose to serve 30 days.

Susan Sunset, a Los Angeles area photographer, switched places with, Betty Tisdale, a woman convicted of DUI. Betty Tisdale was suppose to turn herself in to do 30 days on June 5th but Susan Sunset impersonated her in an attempt to attain photographs of Paris Hilton in jail.
.
Apparently the woman, Susan Sunset, had been surgically altered to have a micro camera inserted in her breast with the hopes of getting the highly prized Paris Hilton photographs. It appears one breast had the micro cam and her other nipple was the shutter button.

A guard volunteered, "she was behaving very strangely, every time she saw Paris Hilton she'd jut out her breasts like she had some kind of back spasms. Upon closer inspection we discovered every time she'd move a certain way you'd hear a shutter go off".

After a visit to the infirmary it was determined she did indeed have a camera implanted in her breast. "We've all heard rumors about how ruthless the paparazzi could be but this goes beyond all expectations and totally goes off the ridicules, Richter scale". Said a jail nurse.

Any photographs attained during her short stay would have been destroyed
after the extensive Xrays taken to determine what was going on.

Susan Sunset was thrown out of jail and the District Attorney is most likely going to file charges against her for impersonating a prisoner and a lot of other charges yet to be determined.

This is the first time in Los Angeles County Jail history someone was thrown out of jail for breaking into jail.

i'm so sick of this story. the media like ET and inside edition are raking in the dough exploiting this story. How many people you know get daily coverage of their impending jail sentence....for a minor offense? i mean they talk about it every single freakin day... and post that mug shot of her. Leave the girl alone. Let her do her time.

It's not just Paris, everyone gets good time, because of the overcrowding in the California Jails.
She still has to serve the 23 days before the 22 other days drop off.
and she has to be good, not easy for someone with 23 spare hours a day.
BTW, why does that woman keep pointing her boobs at me?

Yet her buddy Nichole has so far managed to escape jail for similar circumstances.. hmmm
