Is a domain worth any based solely on PageRank? Say I have a valid PageRank 6 domain is there any worth to the domain strictly for the pagerank? It is an LLLLL.com and isnt a word but all prime prime letters.....

Input is greatly appreciated.

I would say yes because if it has PR then it has traffic. Would obviously be worth a lot more if it were brandable and or pronounceable.

On a side note what can people possible do with a domain with say PR4 that is terrible. I have seen people buy names like ShoeSupplyRentalInc.net for decent money just because it is a PR4. Why?

Are there any price guides out there like 3character.com has for those domains?

Or would someone like to present a minimum wholesale Idea here like

PR1: reg
PR2: $10
pr3: $40
pr4: $70
pr5: $110
pr6: 160
pr7: 210

Woudl that be even close?

1) Domain has existing traffic which *could* convert into sales or clicks
2) Domain is older than a new reg therefore is out of the google sandbox and indexed

@smbgeek - I am not sure on the pricing. I can say that in the past I have payed $50-$60 dollars for a PR4 domains but they have atleast one good keyword.

High PR is no guarantee of traffic. I've got pr 5 websites with less than 5 visitors a day and pr 2 sites with 3000 unique visitors a day.

As PR mainly depends on Link Popularity, I'd be so careful if buying a name solely based on PR which can be manipulated by buying/exchanging temporary links. IMO, a great % of pages has got false PR.

Yeah, I have several domains with decent PR that have little to no traffic. That is why I am wondering why any domain name, no matter how bad or obscure, is worth $50+ just because of the PR.

For some it's for the matter that they can sell links from it. The higher the pr the more people may be willing to pay. But as hookah noted it's a bit of a game and one that google is now penalizing when they catch on to it.

But some high pr domains can be purchased and if smartly crafted can maintain their pr - which is a good start for a new website. High pr should translate into better search rankings -but even this is hit and miss.

PR6 worth $XXX

Depending on SEVERAL factors (age of domain, niche of site, number of backlinks, type of backlinks) a solid PR6 domain would easily be worth more than the $160 noted below. Don't sell if for only $160 but if you must sell it let me know via PM!!!

BTW, it's a fairly common practice to fake PR value by temporarily forwarding a high PR page to it, selling it, and then breaking the forward. Not to suggest anyone here would do such a thing, but if you are BUYING, don't buy strictly on PR.

My fireworks site gets 70,000 uniques per day in season, and it's never once broken PR4. Not only does Google keep devaluing backlinks, but the more pages there ARE out there, the more the overall PR pool gets split up. It's not worth worrying about, honest.

Exactly
Income potential of site is more important than PR.
I have several PR0 / PR1 sites make way more than my PR4 sites.
Plus if buying names PR is so easily faked with several methods.
I never even check PR anymore when buying names, just not worth it.

Buy your names based on similiar criteria to regging new names.
1/ Keywords
2/ Potential market
3/ Investment potential
