Pagerank - Is something funky going on here?

Allright, I had a site online at Sendinfo.net since 98. It had been as high as PR5. It dropped to PR4 all of last year. A few months back, I pulled the site itself (backend was still functional) saying we weren't taking new customers. PR dropped to 3. I parked the domain a couple weeks ago after the last of the customers was moved off. I see today that PR is showing 0 at ALL of the data centers.

The domain hasn't been dropped from Google so I'm really baffled here. Nothing has changed about the domain when you search on it from when it showed 3's to now.

Any ideas? This really makes me leary about the idea of parking domains now that were once developed - to see the PR drop so fast like this. I've had other domains that had PR that would drop 1 at most after being parked. (And some that got PR just by parking)

BTW, if it makes any difference, I had posted the domain for sale here and at DNF and this change happened after that... is there any way someone can "do" something to get rid of a domain's pr?

Sharon

I can't answer your question re your domain, but I have a name that I bought which was PR4 - 18 months later and it's still a PR3 and getting more traffic than ever. It's been parked at Dotzup most of that time.

I've never known PR to drop as quickly as yours has. Did you have some high quality links going into the site that have now been dropped?

Newp.... 3 days ago, the domain was showing as having PR of 3 and now it is showing 0.

The only thing I can guess is that I moved it to Parked and it's a standard keyword page... so perhaps Google is seeing that as duplicate content? I've tried moving it to Namedrive and a 1 click page rather than 2 like at Parked, so I'll see if this makes a difference.

It was parked and no issues for 2 weeks and then I post to forums and PR is gone?
Just very strange.

I've had the same experience as you - domains have kept PR for ages.

Hmm I read your post - so looks like something's going on. At first I thought it was a system wide PR update going on where things can get strange for a few days, but then when I checked the data centers, they were all showing the same results.

Interesting, the opposite happened to me

I picked a PR3 off a droplist, parked it, and the PR went up to 4

yes I have noticed domain forum backlinks don't seem to be very good for some reason, maybe because Google penalizes unrelevant backlinks I don't know

You may have something there. I typically spend 1-2 hours a day cleaning up spam (nothing but links) posts on forums. Big G may be devaluing forum links. :'(

There is a PR update going on. Check on it again in a couple of days & the toolbar PR should be updated.

This is all due to an index update. As I've been telling folks on DP, hang tight! :) The update should continue through about the first week of May, so I would wait until then to draw any conclusions.

wait a few more days, PR usually does not drop to zero for no good reason.

Maybe Google doesn't like blond domainers? ...

Now really I noticed that the PR lately going down .
Maybe Google using new tools that have better sensors.
