I'm new to domaining but wondering why a DN like pacemakers dot com would only bring $1800 at an auction (namejet) with a search history of 300k and .44 CPC? What am I missing? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks,
Ed

Hmm - I wonder who this could be.

$1,800 on NameJet, so it was a domainer. That's an ok number.

They'll probably sell it for $10k

imo

It belongs to a person from namepros. I believe his username is @uglydork but I could be wrong.

I've seen multiple threads of him pitching the name. $1800 sounds really cheap tho. He wanted to sell it for 5 figs.

What are you implying? Seems like I'm missing something here.
Nothing 🧐

Nice to meet you @Ed S -

Ok, I’ll bite - Sounds like you’re diving into the stats and using abbreviated terms like DN early in the game!

Why so interested in this auction? Reserve seemed a bit high at $50-$75k don’t you think?

Ahh, ok I get it now. I was being thick.

Reserve did seem high but I'm surprised there was not more action, medical device industry seems like there were would be deep pockets. I thought it would bring more even for a wholesale auction. Just trying to understand how this all works. All my names are hand reg right now and I just want to start asking questions before I step up a buy a name like that on the wholesale market.

He wanted a million. Lots of bad publicity linked to the domain, previous owner (or current if had a reserve) promoted it all wrong and because of that got a lot of negative/ controversial talk linked to the domain that will forever be on search results and because of that the domain has been devalued and (can only speak for myself) i wouldn’t like to own it even if the domain was a potential $20k+ domain, which i don’t believe it is.

This is very helpful, these are factors I wasn't aware of but will research more. Is this something I can find on way back machine or Google search? I didn't even think a name like that could have bad publicity, seems so generic. Thanks for the info!

Nah, I missed the fact that he was implying that Ed S is uglydork. I saw the controversial threads.

Guys I'm so new here I don't even know who uglydork is, this is literally my first post other then a domain appraisal post which no one has responded to yet. I'm kind of curious now as to what the back story is here...O_o
