Overture Typo Results...

Is it safe to assume that if you look up a typo name with ext. and get 0 results that its correct, that no one has ever made that typo?

Why I ask is I believe I found a typo of a populare site which gets typed in 2000+ with ext. yet shows zero for a typo error which I am sure was made at least once?

Is there a better place to look-up these typo names?

Thanks,

Mike

getting 0 doesn't necessarily mean that typo isn't typed

I know of a couple of typos that get 1000-2000+ type ins pr day, but Overture returns only 0 to 0,9 results pr day for them.. :)

and I have a couple of domains that have 50+ overture results w/extension, but almost never gets any type-ins...

So the Overture results w/extension can't be trusted all the time..

it may have been typed in but it must be searched for with extention atleast 25 times in the month for it to be recorded by overture.

That's part of the problem!

IMO OVT w/ext. is getting closer and closer to "useless information," at
least when it comes to buying a domain for traffic - typo or not.

I'm hearing MORE & MORE that people are disappointed when their OVT w/ext. domain is getting little or no traffic.

I wish I had the time to TEST this out.

BINGO?

My gut tells me OVT TERM TOOL is "kinda helpful" but FAR from reliable.

I've been wrong many times, someone PLEASE prove me wrong again. :)

Mike

P.S. Can someone explain how a TYPO domain w/ext. gets type-ins and
the CORRECT spelling w/ext. doesn't - COME ON FOLKS.

I agree with you there..

It's quite easy to manipulate the overture stats, at least for less popular keywords and domains w/extension...

You just Have to do your homework ~ If you type the term/site in any/all of the large engines and it really doesn't seem like a very popular site/term - It's probably not worth it ....

If www.ShortNeckedGiraffeswithIncontinenceProblems.com is showing Ovt and has no PR or only a few pages listed with no Backlinks - You May want to pass ......

If you see a popular generic word or typo of it ~ It may be a Traffic Dream ... You'll have to take a chance -

There Are NO Guarantees ~

Ovt is only a single tool and should never be viewed as the only reason to purchase a name. The advice of all the other posters in this thread is very much on the mark.

I like to use WordTracker and Ovt together. One will sometimes pick up an error in the other, because both will get wacko results once in awhile.
For those of you that haven't used it, this tool provides both, side by side:
