Apparently, opendomain.org is offering free domain names, but it sounds a little too good to be true to me. All the domains seem to be blacklisted. Anybody heard of this site? Scam?

You just borrow the domain. Ownership is not really changed

But it's still suspicious. Some of the names a pretty valuable, and their all blacklisted. Hmm. Maybe it's for real though, I'm not sure. Any other thoughts on this?

I thought my link above answered that: If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
All you're guaranteed to do is bring a lot of traffic to a site/domain that isn't really yours, and could disappear at any time.

Good point. Maybe they put big time heavy ads on it. I never thought of that.

I wouldn't call that the issue, more that they could take the domain back at any point.
So all your work and the domain dis-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!-pears.

I've had that happen to me before, but from crappy hosts, not the domains. Here we go again with more scammers. I can't understand what they'd get out of it ,maybe they'd phish your info or something, but I can see it happening.
