You can get free domains from opendomain.org.There is a pre-defined list of domains from which you have to choose any one.You cannot register new domains.You will not get the domain immediately.You have to wait until your application is accepted.

I think you misunderstand what they are offering. On the home page they specifically say “We can NOT transfer any domains to you.” It's an interesting concept, but not one which will give you a domain for free.
