I own a huge sports network that contains each of the major sports leagues names in the title. Basically, their stance is that if you are not using trademarked images (logos) and you are not using the site to sell their merchandise without permission (affiliate sales through an authorized merchant are ok) then they don't care. They realize that there are TONS of fanbased sites out there and that getting upset about their names being involved in fan appreciation sites is not smart nor a productive use of their legal department. If you are scamming them out of money or illegally representing them or their products they will get involved...but otherwise its all ok.

Stay way from their trademarked images/logos ect... and you should be fine.
