Hi People,

I’m on a mission to start my own parking site for domains, but I don’t know where to start. So far I’ve got a domain for the site and that’s it lol.

My mates think I’m mad for even doing this thread, but the way I see it this is probably the only place where I can get all the support I need!

What has been done so far…

· Got a domain though 1&1.com
· Parked it till I get the website sorted
· I’ve learned the basics on the web builder on 1&1.com

So my question at the moment is What do I need to do now? I know I have to make a website but how do I get that started?

Cheers

Jag

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I assume some fundamental steps would be:

You would need to negotiate a deal with an advertising feed provider...

Then you would need to develop the parking software to display the parked pages, track the clicks, make the payouts...

Then you would need to promote your parking service and compete with the other players in the market...

Google.com

Skenzo.com

The catch 22 is that unless you already have massive traffic, they probably won't want to talk to you.

Hi NameCodex

Thanks again for posting.

Well I don’t get a lot of traffic on the domain I’m going to use but the idea I have might work if what I have in my head can work in real life. I’m going to talk to skenzo.com, and see what they say. I will have question 3 soon J

Thanks again mate.

It doesn't sound like you have half a clue, so I don't think I'd do business with you at all...

First mistake you've done is buying a domain from 1and1.com. Be prepared for all the hassle when migrating to a better registrar or host.

Anyways, you really don't have the clue of what you're going to do. Domain parking is not easy to manage.

Anyways, I would recommend using www.google.com and learning before starting out a business.

I’ve been with 1and1.com for a while, I’ve seen a thread somewhere about 1and1 and I know what people think of it, anyway when things start going I will move to another provider if I get messed about.

I’m also aware that domain parking is not easy, matter of fact life isn’t either but I'm still giving it a go. :hehe:

I’m doing a lot of research at the moment and also using google, but thanks for posting it. ;)

I think NC is not talking about the domain name you have as your parking service name, its about the traffic you will have with your clients domain names ....

Get used to the industry before bothering with parking. You need some experience.
1 and 1 being mistake number 1.

You wont be able to make a parking system with "web builder" or whatever 1 and 1 has.

You either need to lean to design and code, or, pay some people to do it for you.
So you would need everything you want well planned out, before you even put code to paper, negotiate deals with the feed providers, this is where you need experience, you gotta think WHY would they let you use their feeds, you know little to nothing about the industry by the looks of it.

How would you support users?

A parking system is NOT a good idea as your first online project atall.
