OK canada, if this is how it will be. Stop taking the billions of dollars we give you out of charity every year to keep your psuedo nation alive. I've spent the [ast ten summer vacations in Canada, but not more. I'll save that 5 or 6K spent and go to Vegas and somewhere that appreciattes us.

(hehe, sorry.. but CNN.com wont post my comments lol)

I never said that MP's comments were right, she made a stupid comment.

The point is, you were so quick to stand up for the US that you bashed Canada in the process. It was a stupid comment on her part. I think the US is one of the very greatest countries in the world. Don't take my debating as US bashing...

All I was saying is that the USA is so proud, that terrorists zero in on it and attack for that reason.

Terrorism sickens me, but the US sure hasnt helped themselves on that front by attacking Iraq.

Thanks fo rsaying that, because sometimes I lose focus and make the person the issue..and lose sight of the topic.

/tips hat

The US, while true.. we may seem proud.. doesnt go around boasting we're the best or whatever. All day, every day we hear people from accross the globe condem us for doing this or not doing that. ei;

Sudan: People are calling for us to go in and end the atrocities. I agree we should. But why? everytime we do, we get harrased as war mongers..etc. It happened in Bosnia when we went it almost totally alone, it will happen in Sudan when we get there.

Why dont nation slike france, russia and germany go in and help those people instead of calling for America to take action?

Yes, I guess we are proud. We take pride in the fact that we are the ones that the world turns to for help. Like the good friend who is always there when you need to cry, America stands ready and strong. We, perhaps proudly... do take pride in the fact that we are all that stands between a better tomorow and an islamic tomorow.

And yet we are spit on for it. Spit on for freeing 24 million people in Iraq. Spit on for invading afghanistan freeing 15 million woman from Sharia. Spit on for freeing muslims in Bosnia. Spit on for vietnam when all we were doing was stopping communism. spit on and spit on and spit on.

and yet we stand.

true, but you guys were no where to be found in Yugoslavia and Canadian soldiers came in to restore peace (which is really about all they are capable of)

The problem with attacking Iraq was that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld played us all for fools with the WMD lie. That's what hurts, that massive lie that let them invade Iraq.

Sudan is a different story, I am positive France, Canada and others would help to end the suffering there, but the US has so many resources they need to be involved as well.

well maximus, then you deffinately do not want to know how i feel about it now lol.

we think of canada as the 51st state, the little sister that couldnt. we feed her, protect her... buy her toys..whatever. hence the term "pseudo Nation".

And over 50% of us feel Bush's behaviour is appropriatte. Stomp Al Quada. Stomp Saddam. Maybe Iran soon, Maybe Korea.. who knows. However, if you feel that leaving a terrorist to rule afghanistan is ok.

If you feel that not responding to something like 9/11 is ok

if you feel that allowing saddam to do the numerous things he was doing is ok

fine, thats your opinion. We promise not to call you cowards or apathetic and to afraid to risk yourself to help others.

really, its ok to be afraid.

We choose to stand.

Do you say, what bush did to iraq is correct?. He dint end terrorism. He robbed a whole country and its wealth. he is a .......,
poor americans,

how funny
"Parrish, who had to apologize for her "bastards" remarks last year, at first denied using the word idiots, and when reporters pointed out they had her remarks on tape, she said: "I don't mean Americans are idiots.""

GT, we cannot truly be expected everywhere..can we?

As per the "Iraqi Lie", true no assembled WMD's have been found. However every nation.. including yours.. stating in the UN vote that Saddam HAD WMD's and was a danger that might use them. It came to light even, more recently, that France amazingly enough, was the secret nation that had originally obtained the report of WMD's in Iraq.

So all nations (save 1) agreed there were weapons there, and yet many still refused to go the road? why?

Suthra, careful what you say about MY president. God only knows how many issues and problems I can find about yours and unles you want me to begin disrespecting your nation.. I suggest you begin to respect mine.
Yes, what WE AMERICANS did in Iraq was right. We would do it again and again and again. Why? Well, why wouldnt we? Why should we allow Saddam to pay off the families of suicicde bombers so they would blow up Israeli school busses? Why should we allow a man who routinely tortures his own civilians to remain in power? Why should we allow a nation that invaded a soveriegn state (Kuwait), was beaten back and ultimately surrendered continue to defy the terms of surrender and fire t our aircraft, "steal" from the oil for food program (gee, thanks france), make assasination attempts on our leaders..etc etc etc.

We did it for more than just WMD's. while that may have been the underlying cause, if other nations truly knew saddam didnt have the weapons, why vote and say he did? Was your nation setting us up?

Face it, we liberated millions and millions are happy about it.

Right now, we face a very unhappy minority. But they will die soon...very very soon and once again people like you and me living in Iraq will have their lives back to normal.. but this time, without the harsh dictatorship of a saddamite to bring fear into their lives.

Couldn't resist.
poor americans,
Thankyou for your pity. I'm sure that people throughout the world would agree, it's always a treat to have one's nationality pitied. Growing up in the 50's, a common mantra that mothers would often use w/ children that were being uncooperative in eating a food that they disliked was, "Think about the poor kids living in India, who have nothing on their plates to eat." I suppose that turnabout is fair play.

Americans, (I am one), are cited as being insensitive to the customs of others, self-centered, noisy and politically unaware. I agree. I know some Americans, (unfortunately, too many) that are like that. When I was travelling Italy a couple of years back, I remember turning and going in the opposite direction when I heard English or German being spoken. This response was due, mainly to my enjoyment of the musical quality of spoken Italian, but was, in no small part, also due to not wanting the embarassment by being associated w/ "that" kind of American.

That being said, I think Americans have just grown weary of the constant stream of criticism from non-Americans. Despite all of our faults, there are very few countries that surpass the US as a place where opinions and divergent ideaologies can be openly discussed, w/o governmental interference or socially imposed consequences. Because of this, we
are highly active in criticizing our government and institutions, and when in additon to our own bitching, we get dumped on by the rest of the world, it can get to be just too much, and we become defensive.

A prominently Greek audience, jeered three American athletes for several minutes today, before the running of the 200 meter finals. Their own, very popular champion in this event, (who was also supposed to carry the torch to light the fire at the opening ceremony), had failed to report for a drug test, and then later was involved in a mysterious motorcycle "accident", and, therefore, was both banned by the Olympics, and *perhaps* also unable to participate because of physical problems resulting from the accident. In a totally fabricated newspaper editorial, it was theorized that the Americans had plotted against their hero so that the Americans would gain a sweep in the event. The Greek people agreed, the Americans were the culprit, and the very unfair and misguided reaction followed. "It;s all the American's fault!"

This is a microcosm of what, for Americans, has become routine and tiresome. So, if we tend to get defensive and perhaps overreact to criticism from the outside, it is not because we think everything is right here. We see our defects which are also rather transparent to the rest of the world, it would appear. All is not well here. Is everything well in all of the other countries that are represented here, at the forum today? Certainly there is room for improvement. But these factors do not give the rest of the world the right to shirk it's own responsibilities, and to be in denial about it's own problems, by using the US as the scapegoat.

The misdirected criticism has become so tiresome, and is becoming so commonplace, that, unfortunately, American's are becoming enured to most "outsiders" criticism in general, and any effectiveness or usefulness that may have been derived from responsible criticism, is now being lost.

Saddam was a terrible, disgusting excuse for a human being, but he does not justify invading a sovreign (sp?) nation.

I recently read a book called Bush At War, it outlines the first 100 days after September 11th, really a great book - just facts, no opinions. I actually like Bush a lot more know than I did before after reading it. From what I can tell, Bush was being led along like a donkey by Cheney and Rumsfeld who desperatly wanted a war in Iraq right after September 11th.

Anyways, America is a great nation, no denying that, just dont go insulting Canada because of one persons idiotic comments

How could anyone possibly insult a country that gave us Neil Young, BTO, The Royal Mounted Police and Molson's? (among other things, of course.):hehe:
Canada and the US have one of the most interesting, symbiotic relationships of any two countries in the world.

My name is Joe!! And I am Canadian!

Hey.

I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader, and I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dog sled, and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada, although I'm certain they're really, really nice.

I have a Prime Minister, not a President. I speak English and French, not American, and I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.

I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack. I believe in peacekeeping, not policing. Diversity, not assimilation, and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.

A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee' ... 'ZED'!!!

Canada is the second largest land mass! The first nation of hockey! And the best part of North America!

My name is Joe!! And I am Canadian!

BTW, vie the CANADIAN version of the story HERE AT CANADA.com

Paul Cellucci, the U.S. ambassador to Canada, told the CBC that Parrish is entitled to her opinion. ''Canada is a free country, people can express their opinions how they see fit,'' Cellucci said in Goose Bay, Nfld.

hehe, well most countries in the world have think that USA have very bad politics. Thats the common opinion.

Do go to Irak and Afgahnistan to take away weapon of massdestruction and set the people free. Instead they see that Irak and Afgahnistan doesnt have any weapons of massdestruction and not even a army that was supposed to be so big.

They put people in jail without no trial that they think are terrorist, many innocent but probably som guilty. They put Iraqi people in jail and torture, kill 8-X and make fun of them in very cruel ways.

Well, politic is fun to disuss ;D

Agreed. And I would suggest that the best way to prevent repetitions of such unnecessary attention-grabbing forum behaviour, and inappropriate language, is quite simply to ignore posts like these and instead to bring them directly to the attention of the moderators. And of course, if NP condones behaviour and expressions like these, then I would seriously question my being a part of this community.

It's also quite interesting to do a simple search on a member's public profile - a lot of things will come to light, such as historical posts, total posts and posts per day, etc. That said, this is my second and final post on this thread - got to put into practice what I suggested! Cheers to all.
