I don't know if this has been discussed yet or not. Can't find it when searching.

What do you guys think of Geo names like:

SeattleWA.info or BuffaloNY.info

I don't have either of those, just giving examples of the format. (I do have about 15 others)

How do you value that type of format in the .info extension?
Does anyone have experience with developing or selling those type of domains?

Thanks for any insight.

Hello Triplepen. I would definately stay away from abbreviated phrases when registering GEO .info domains. I would much rather prefer the long phrase instead.

I just registered these GEO .INFO domains:

1. AlabamaApartments.info
2. ColoradoApartments.info
3. GeorgiaApartments.info
4. illinoisApartments.info
5. NewJerseyApartments.info
6. MinnesotaApartments.info
7. NewYorkLawFirm.info
8. TexasLawFirm.info

Thanks for the feedback Lexisdomains, Can you give me some more details on why you advise staying away from these type of GEO domains?

Search volume wise they look like they should be great. Sticking with the example of Seattle; 'seattle wa' recieves 368,000 exact searches.

I think long phrases are better for SEO & branding. But, I say.....Go for it!
If the search volume is there, evidently it holds some type of value to the consumer.

Best to you,
Lexis

I think these pure geos are pretty good actually. A state is not a typical abbreviation, people use the short form all the time in daily life (and searches) so its not a stretch, it also makes the name shorter and easier to type.

There are also so many development opportunities for a pure geo eg:
hotels.buffalony.info
or
BuffaloNY.info/restaurants/

A pure geo is like 100 domains in one :)
I have a few like this in other extensions that I plan to hold or develop long term.

I love my .infos

2 Best .info's I have (I own 150 developed .info's)

LoveMy.info << says it all
MiniSite.info << minisites and .infos go together perfectly. Bing.com seems to think so. It is page 1 for search term "minisite"

Hello Liquid.

It's common to see typos and mispells to sell in .COM, but this is generally not the case with .INFO's

.INFO Rule of thumb: Remember, invest in purely generic or dictionary terms for .INFO.

thx lexis for the quick reply,

I knew the rules already but this is a special occasion since here in the US business is sometimes also spelled buisness(word tracker is proving it with even more improving numbers over the past months), that's why i regged it from a drop list, i didn't do it just for being a "typo" like goole.com or any other typo related domain :)

Cheers
