.ca=24,000,000
.tv=6,110,000

.co.in=2,490,000
.in=4,860,000

Since i own a few .cc domains, i'm hoping that they're undervalued - at the same time though, i'm pretty sure that their future is limited by a handful of very unwise decisions by ICANN to flood the market with extensions that no one really needs. We're just about at the point where everyone and their neighbor has their own extension. Unfortunately, the last thing that ICANN is interested in, is the domainer. Our perspective, business, evaluations are of no use to them.
.CC has oftentimes been referred to as "CreditCard" from what i've heard, i've seen it used in Europe for a number of businesses - i guess it's safe to say that the future of .cc is better in Europe, then Asia (China) and very limited, if any future in the U.S. :imho:

Fact: Lots of chinese websites using .cc, but I'm pretty sure ".cc is branded as Chinese Company" is not the reason. :o
Why would the Chinese use a vanity TLD while they can have the real thing (.cn) for a fraction of the cost ?

You would have to ask the Chinese then. :laugh:

I'm guessing less squatters and .cc kinda looks like .cn? :o

Raise your frilly dresses ladies, I just regged CanCan.cc. Now does anybody know a girl, half Chinese, half French, I can sell it to?

Agree 100% Mike.

As long as there is such a thing as type-in traffic, there will be money to be made typosquatting, as long as there exists an internet, there will be money to be made cybersquatting. I really don't know why ICANN is doing this... Do they actually think doing this will alleviate the current situation?

If ICANN thinks they're helping people by doing this... All they're doing is making corporations have to register their mark in another thousand extensions -- and you better believe some stupid wannabe domainer will get a kick out of owning Microsoft.ext otherwise.

Sad, but so true.

My concern about .cc long term is that it doesn't mean anything in particular. Some of the suggestions given on enic.cc "Chat Club", "Camera Crews", and "Collectors Corner" are not associations people would automatically make.

Well, i own only one .cc, my business pcfix.cc and i always explain it to the asking customer "cc stands for "Computer Care" :bingo:

And to root for this extension, just look at the ease of typing...just repeat the c, you don't even have to go to the o and m..... :D

Cheers,

Frank

Disclaimer: i am not a chinese company nor do i know the owner of the chinese restaurant on the corner personally, i am just picking up there my chinese food fix every week!!

.CC never had a positioning statement that sold.

.COM alternative was too broad.

They could potentially reposition and market. Until they do, .cc is only for those who are looking to milk keywords through SEO development.

Would I be correct in making the assumption that the true value in .cc's is in development like all other extensions?

I would say that this is a blanket statement that applies to any domain, regardless of its extension. There are maybe just a handful of domains that are better of parked, but even that i'd like to challenge, since any well developed domain can increase its inherent value by attracting traffic, branding and eventually develops its own dynamic.

That appears to be an assertion based on emotion rather than analysis.

Right. Care to elaborate rather than just throwing in a statement without any backup whatsoever?!

Next three to six months. Probably up to 1000 including IDN over next 2 to 3 years.
Up to 1000 new extensions? I knew about there being some new idn extensions like for russia and other places but I didnt know they would introduce lots of new gTLDs.

Apart from .web and .xxx what else could they possible introduce? Probably a bunch of more hopeless extensions like .biz. I think the only real damage to .cc will be an introduction of a Chinese IDN extension. Also the introduction of more extensions might help .cc since different extensions will make different extensions more common and people wont always look for just .com. Pretend .com wasnt the most known and used and you looked at the extensions surely a 2 letter repeating is a very good extension.

It stands to reason. It is not just Rick that is not doing meaningful development of top names. Many, many, indeed most are top names are not properly developed. Some assume that because SEOdomaining works well on mediocre naames that it must work much better on high quality names. My understanding is that, because of the tough SEO competition, all you do is end up losing much of your parking revenue. The market clearly supports that view. You assert otherwise, you prove it. Lets see some before and after.

I have to agree with you... If you negotiate a better rev share with the parking company and have domains in high paying niches (eg. pretty much anything to do with finding lawyers), you can easily make $10+ per click.

I for one wouldn't have the least clue how you'd develop a site and make more money than that off of such a name unless you're a lawyer yourself and use your site to recruit new clients (but then you'd be an enduser, not a domainer, right?).
