It's a simple conclusion that a bag of candy sold is going to generate more revenue and profit than a click through a candy company.Rubber Duck said:It stands to reason. It is not just Rick that is not doing meaningful development of top names. Many, many, indeed most are top names are not properly developed. Some assume that because SEOdomaining works well on mediocre naames that it must work much better on high quality names. My understanding is that, because of the tough SEO competition, all you do is end up losing much of your parking revenue. The market clearly supports that view. You assert otherwise, you prove it. Lets see some before and after.

In addition, with Google's option for advertisers to specify whether they would like to in/excluded from advertising on parked sites, the field of available and paying advertisers is going to narrow down, CTR $ values are going to drop subsequently. In addition, Yahoo's recent disallowing of PPC traffic to domains with their ads on it is just furthering the decay of revenue.
For both points, just read through the forum, the parking industry as a whole is hurting, revenue numbers, even for mid level domains are down. I just need to look at my own portfolio, my numbers have disintegrated.
Would i rather park than develop? You bet i would, there's not even one inch of doubt in my mind that i'd rather park. It's the easier way of making money, less time intense and less intense in upkeep. Following keywords and positioning the PPC ads correctly is by far easier than coming up with cool enough content. Unfortunately, that's not really enticing any longer when your CTR $ per click on a domain that deals with travels to Japan is under 10 cents.
I'm not Rick or Frank or Kevin, i, like 99.5% of all other domain owners cannot negotiate with parking companies to give me a bigger slice of the cake, or to apply any form of double standard for me personally and permit me to run PPC traffic to my domains.
Maybe some people should have listened as threads were created that spoke up for a domainer's union to represent us against the non existent transparency, double standards, Yahoo & Google, etc.
Before i'm going off in a totally different direction here:
Development, if done right, will most often generate more revenue than a parked domain. Traffic numbers are more stable, email databases can be reused, cross advertising becomes more effective and the overall exposure of the domain is further increasing the value. This applies especially to domains with extensions other than .com, such as .cc.
Unfortunately, i'm at the office, or i'd start compiling numbers, just writing these lines took me the better part of 1 hour (thanks to countless interruptions).

Haha, talking about east of typing. I heard from somewhere that it was once marketed as half of .COM.liquidcherry said:And to root for this extension, just look at the ease of typing...just repeat the c, you don't even have to go to the o and m..... :D
So half a .com for triple the price? :sold: :notme:lilpooh said:Haha, talking about east of typing. I heard from somewhere that it was once marketed as half of .COM.
Imagine splitting the O into half, it's a C! :hehe:
That's not bad at all for just barely more than 1 yr worth of time between the sales!vlad74 said:home.cc was again sold at sedo, this time for $1655.
