Offer received - Advice needed

Hi guys, I need some advice in terms of the next step.

I received an email this morning regarding my domain name: gwars (dot) com.
The buyer simply enquired whether the domain name was for sale and is from a legit company (PM me if you'd like to know the name of the company).

I replied saying that I didn't know much about domains or the value of this one and that I would like him to make an offer so that we could take it from there.

Within a couple of hours I had the following response:

No problem, I am the same, dont buy domains professionally. I just
bought galactiwars.com because I was a big fan of this game back in the
80's during BBS days and am thinking of trying to revive it in some
newer-better fashion. People sometimes called the game gwars.com so this
is why I am interested in it. I dont have a lot of money to spend on it
but I just wanted to check.

Anyhow I was thinking something fair like $500 or similar. Let me know
what you think.

I would strongly suggest (given his response and it coming within just a couple of hours) that you sell it to him for $500, IMHO. :talk:

I wouldn't say that I would be ecstatic, I've had offers in the past in that region and turned them down so far, just wondering if maybe I'm expecting too much from this domain?

Tell him your "Asking price" is $750, but you'd be willing to "split the difference" with him at $625 to cover your various expenses, etc. and to complete the professional transaction prior to the end of the month, IMHO. :tu: :talk:

I know that you're in the US but I'm working in £ this end. I was hoping to get in the region of £400 for the domain, but I can see what you're trying to do so I am willing to drop that to £350 if we can push this through before the end of the month.

My reasoning is that if he has plans for the domain he's not gonna let it fall through his fingers just for the sake of a few dollars. It's not like I doubled what he's asking for.

$500 would not be a bad sale, but I personally would hold out for low x,xxx if it were mine. But that is only if you aren't in urgent need of cash. There are many interesting references to gwars on google. gwars can be short for GuildWars... and many other sites.

good question i'm also curious about.

If it gets traffic and or revenue, i will agree with gene more. Gwars.com is a short/brandable/possibly game related domain name. THese are all profitable qualities. people here @ NP sell worse names $500 or better.

The question about the "ecstatic" sale is also a good one.

i think gwars.com should go for low $x,xxx.

He said he would be willing to buy at $500, we got as far as negotiating payment details but I've not heard anything from him since....

I think I would be better off holding out for a higher sale due to the fact that I have had other offers in this region before and it is a short brandable domain name.
