I would appreciate to get some opinions from NP members.

I received an offer for 3 word .com domain at Sedo. Offer is $200 and my asking price is $2800.

I think he/she is domainer as he/she is long time Sedo user, and has 3/5 Sedo buyer activity.

I am not satisfied with $200, but what should be my counter offer?

Remember, he/she is an domainer (I would say so).

P.S. Domain was hand regged

I dont think you will get close to $2800 if its a domainer, especially a 3-word name

Its hard to tell without seeing thew name, but I would counter with $1000 and go from there and not drop below maybe $600

This is just based on what you have told me.

The answer depends on your overall strategy. Flipper vs Long-term investor. If he is a domainer then he won't buy unless he sees a clear profit, might as well be you to get that profit, if you are long-term. In that case price it as you would 5 - 10 years from now, and have little hope of this sale.

If you think short-term then you already have a nice ROI. I'd counter with $300 - $400 if you want THIS sale, or whatever you think the next guy will pay if you value the domain higher.

It all comes down to..How badly do you want to sell? If you think the name can fetch more down the line and you're not in a hurry to sell then I think $1000 is a nice counter.

If you are more anxious to sell it and move on then a counter of around $600 could maybe entice another counter from him at $400..That's probably about where you would have to accept..But at least it would still be a nice ROI. Just my opinion. But as others have said, it can be a little hard to tell without seeing the domain.

I answered with $1200 and will wait. Already have in mind some other potential buyers if this one dont raise his/her offer.

Idiot mentality ITT.

The fact that the domain has three words tells us absolutely nothing.

Is it CreditCardDebt.com or NewYorkCity.com? Because if so, I'll pay your asking price right now. Is it FurryOaklandBananas.com? If so, take whatever he offers.

There is no way to fully quantify the value of internet identity and how that relates to domain names but you can safely hang your hat on this; 100% of all "domainer rules" such letter and word length conventions, etc, are stupid, as are all people who believe they're a relevant valuation device.

Matter of fact, anyone who takes a strictly 'metric-based' approach to domain valuation is destined to fail. .

I'm a domainer but I'm also buying domains in end user capacity.

But yes, I will still want a good price.
Well, yes and no.

Just because I'm a domainer doesn't mean I am stingy.
I realize the value of a good domain, more than the average end user. So I am quite likely to pay a fair price.

As said above ^ we don't know the domain, can't advise on price.
Sell at a price that makes you happy, regardless of whomever is bidding.
