I have been working applying numerology to domain names, to see how their letter vibrations might influence their chance for success, and I've bee astounded by the results I got -- so I decided to share this insight with the namepros.
Numerological analysis essentially is reducing the letters of a name to numbers, then adding those numbers, and finally reducing that number to a single one.
Let's take the #1 domain in the world, Yahoo.
Y A H O O
7 1 8 6 6 = 28 (2+8 = 10 , then 1 = 0 = 1). So numerologically, Yahoo is also number 1
Take YouTube --- its letters also add up to 28, which is also number 1.
MySpace, also adds up to 28 and therefore is also a number 1 vibration.
Take Microsoft, it letters add up to 46, and then 4 + 6 = 10, which is 1 again.
Take AOL, adds up to 10, which is also number 1.
You can play around for a long time, it will become very obvious that this is way beyond what mere probability could explain, there is 'something' at work here, which luckily we don't need to 'explain', we are happy to use it. That's the difference between science and technique, science needs explanations, but technique doesn't, it just has to work.
The numerological analysis of a domain name can reveal interesting aspects of the name, hidden qualities, so I find it's a good if esoteric aspect to take into account, especially if you are planning to develop a domain name, because it does seem to improve the chances for success.
But even if you don't plan to develop the domain, numerology can still help you assess the "charisma" the je ne sais quoi factor, that intangible thing that makes even an unusual or ugly sounding domain appealing. The magic factor.
Numerology is a measure of brandability and also a way to gauge that "ring" that makes a mere name into a big brand.
It's not all about number 1 of course, there are more considerations, but I just thought I'd post this, perhaps someone will be intrigued and use it.
