I've been giving this some thought, and passed it by a couple of people, and the general consensus was positive. Therefore, I thought I would stick my neck out and post here.

I presently work within the Recruitment industry. Primarily IT / Telecoms / Wireless for myself, with some SEO/PPC search and selection work. Now, I accept that most people here are potentially looking to "make their millions" online, as am I. However, with a little thought and a brief reality check, almost everyone will agree we all need to have a normal day job to keep the money coming in to cover the bills, whilst we all speculate.

Therefore, I thought having a channel like this would be of considerable benefit. I have access to hundreds of jobs, primarily over the UK, however, this covers most of Europe as well.

Obvious areas of expertise within the community jump out like a neo sign. Web Designers, Web Developers, Senior Developers, Managers, Team Leaders, SEO specialists, PPC / Marketing Specialists.

To me, that’s a hot bed and wealth of talent. Lets see if we can help the community find those jobs YOU WANT!. Not having to put up with a role where your boss is a XXXX and the pay is poor.

I moved into Recruitment because of the number of nuggets and idiots I spoke to 2 years ago when trying to get a Job back in the Telecoms marketplace. It was a nightmare. So, I put my technical knowledge and dev skills to use, and spoke to the relevant mangers and System Managers at their level.

Anyhow, I digress. I think it would be a brilliant opportunity to help people of the community.

Feed back and thoughts please. Oh, and btw, I would be more than happy to moderate it (if it doesn’t involve 40+hrs a week ;))

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I don't think to be a "nugget", but I'm not sure to understand what you called a "NP recruitement channel". So... what do you want to do exactely ? :) A new moderated forum ? Something like that ?

Anyway, I've a question about your offers. Have you short mission too ? For little company like mine in France for example ? ;)

Thanks,
David.

The main point of the chan, really being that anyone can assist those in the industry, to actually work in it.

For example, If there is anyone within the UK, lets say London, who knows how to utilise, PPC/SEO services. this makes them an asset to a company.

In turn, those companies specialising in that industry, in that area, can potentially get them on board. For a certain salary etc....
PPC/SEO consultants are in Huge demand in the uk atm. Same prob. globally.

Thats the line of thought. Not all of us make good money at this game, and need help.

so in your circumstance, if you want a profesional to help you in your company, you could advertise here :)

Something that is very important to me, is the whole global Networking Scene. To be able to help someone, without expecting something back, is REALLY cool! ..... that would be the main point of this. NEtwork, meet people and help people.

The one major issue I see with this idea is the globalization of NamePros. In your example, you mention the UK and Europe, but in fact I know a lot of members that live in the USA, Australia, East Asia, and practically every part of the world. It would be rather difficult to coordinate the jobs, and keep them local IMO.

I think your missing the key point here tom.

I've never said I personally will find all these jobs.

Lets say RJ is ready to bring on a perm. member of staff in marketing (just an example), he would want them in the SF bay area.

Biggie might need someone for his hosting company that is expanding, so he would need someone local to him.

the point being, the forums ARE global, so ANYONE can advertise their job. Just thqt it would have to be moderated to make sure the "spam" isnt there. No reason there cant be basic "company" checks done on the application to be part opf this part of the community.

No, I understand the concept of what you are talking about fine, its just that I think NamePros is a little too global for this. Perhaps, it may successfully work for a few jobs, but I think it would be doomed from the start. For example, say a company in New York City is looking for a SEO expert, and posts a job here at NamePros. If we narrow it down to the number of active members here at NP, that live in NYC and are knowledgable in SEO, we are probably already down to 200-300 at most. Then you further narrow that down to the number of members that are unemployed and looking for a job, and you will be somewhere around 5-10 people. Take out 4-6 people who the company will have no interest in hiring, and you will be left with 1-4 possible canidates for a job, and I am being generous with this estimate. I think this idea would have a lot more potential if most members were from mainly one country, or even one continent, but NP is very diverse.

ahhhh, I see what your saying.

Well, I wouldnt count out people who presently HAVE a job.
So maybe add one or two people to those esitmates. Even so, 1 possible person is a good oppertunity rather than nothing :)

True. Maybe the idea would be better if it focused on online jobs where you can work at home, as that would solve the globalization issue.

no reason why you couldnt have 2 chans
1 covering online freelancing
and the 2nd
covering the perm placements at the office location :)

Sounds very interesting. My main area of interest is IT and branching out into Web and Networking areas. And I live in the UK!

Thanks Rob.

So, the question is, will RJ & co. allow me the chance to give it a whirl. Worst that happens is it doesnt work over a couple of months and it closes.

Could we possibly Trial it for a couple of months. Or say until Christmas?

Thanks
Matt
