I was able to pick up these two names in the 5th day of EAP for a great price. All the highly targeted keywords like news and porn sold in the 2nd day of EAP for around $3,400 each. Please share any of your .now, and your thoughts on the potential future. For some reason, I prefer this extension to .deal that also is in EAP.

Chat was always a $5k registry premium name, it was not reclassified.
I know the investor who dropped it and the cost was too high for an investor to hold long term.

In my opinion, with STR at ~2%, the cost for Tier 3+ ($1k+) reg premiums are too risky and the ROI doesn't make sense. They are better left for end users where they can be bought at reg price and brought live.

There is no need to bid on it, it will likely become avail again to hand register and will be for sale at just over $15k (Namecheap does not have the best renewal pricing).

However, even at ~$15k, this name is better left to an end user. The ROI calculation for names at this price level is too high a hurdle for an investor (imo)

Had no idea it was premium from the outset. I had checked the transfer price a couple of months ago, and the registrar displayed pricing as standard. Good domain nonetheless. You are right about STR/ROI. I was waiting for it to be dropped only to learn today the outlay and renewals are way too high.

Let's look at what end users (businesses) are doing to get the answer to your question.

When we do that, we find they launch on verbs (as you described) but also launch on nouns, places, & acronyms. You can see a sampling of 30 businesses that use .now here;

So it appears, that while verbs obv read the best across the dot, that businesses find the call to action extension worthy for many word types, including, but not limited to, verbs.
