Strongest New Extensions
This year I included a plot of the strongest new gTLD extensions based on 2025 dollar volume of sales reported in NameBio.
To appear on this chart, the extension only needed about $60,000 in reported sales volume for 2025. Yet even with this low threshold, there were relatively few extensions. It is entirely possible that my manual process missed a few extensions that should have made the list, and many retail sales do not get reported. Nevertheless,
it is of concern that so few new extensions have significant reported aftermarket sales. I analyzed data for 156 new gTLDs for this article, including any I thought likely to have strong performance, but it is possible that the process missed some that should have been included.
It is not surprising that
.xyz and .app lead, as they have for a number of years. A few other notes regarding new extension performance, mainly arranged by decreasing dollar volume;
- Newly released .now pulled off third place, with $472,000 in reported 2025 sales.
