Not receiving 2-Step Verification Codes from GD & Dynadot

    I have all my domain accounts set with 2-step authentication, however, I can't login to my GoDaddy and Dynadot accounts since yesterday, because I don't receive any 2-step verification codes from them.

    Have been trying many times in the past 12 hours but still no text messages sending to my phone...

    I have asked both GoDaddy and Dynadot's support and they told me my phone number remains the same and the problem may be caused by their SMS provider Twilio, has anyone experienced the same issue as me? I am in Taiwan by the way, not sure if this is a regional or a global issue...

    This might seem weird, but try keeping your phone on charge when requesting the codes.

    It has worked earlier for me with GoDaddy.

    Thanks for the feedback pooky! I have also tried my NameBright account and it has no problem, I can receive 2 step code sending from NameBright successfully...

    I have checked the status page of Twilio and I noticed that their Carrier Network is experiencing an issue in APAC: https://status.twilio.com/
    Maybe this is what caused my problem?

    This is so frustrating, I have many domains expiring and I still can't login to my accounts to renew them....

    The status for APAC in Twilio shows "normal" now, but I still don't receive the SMS...What the F***

    I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with the login. I hope you were able to get the codes finally.
    If you are not receiving the 2fa codes you can cancel the 2fa and set it up again. I would recommend using an app like Google Authenticator and adding a backup device. Text messages can have issues like you are experiencing that are outside our control and they are less secure than using other 2fa methods.

    This used to happen to me quite a bit with 2FA SMS with Cosmotown. I don't think they had any other means of 2FA at the time, so I ultimately quit using them.

    For services that allowed 2FA via authenication app (including GoDaddy and Dynadot), I initially used Google Authenticator, but later switched to Authy, as it was easier for me to use on multiple devices.

    I'm sorry to hear that, our account managers could help with having the two-factor authentication settings reset to allow account access, we would just need to ask you to click the 'Lost cellphone?' link when you are asked for the SMS code and follow those steps. Our account managers would then contact you by email when the request had been processed.

    I'm sorry to hear that, the requests are usually processed the same day they're received but there can sometimes be delays. If you would like to PM us with your username I can ask the account managers to take a look at the request as soon as possible.

    I have got my Dynadot account back, thanks for Dynadot's prompt and professional help! reputation ++++

    Still waiting for GoDaddy's response... they said that GoDaddy takes up to 72 hours in response to such situation... I have bunch of domains expiring/expired at GoDaddy...

    Finally I got my 2 step verification SMS sending from GoDaddy after 4 days, problem solved, thanks for everyone's help.

    By the way, fleaking is correct in referring to it as “two step” verification, which is done via texts to a phone number capable of receiving texts. This may be a cell phone, or certain online VOIP numbers.

    “Two factor” authentication is a whole different, annoyingly more secure, process where the device itself is authenticated via a code sent to it. Apple uses this and no longer accepts the less secure two step verification method for access for example to Apple Developer accounts.

    One thing I have noticed about two step verification is that depending on the website, the text might not work (just never arrives) with certain phone carriers or VOIP numbers.

    With Dynadot, when I first started using two step V, the texts never made it to my VOIP number. I tried for days. Then just as I was about to give up and switch to using a cellular number, it started working and ever since has worked properly with the VOIP.
