Not enough exposure on Flippa?

Hi guys,

I'm using Flippa's listing service now and listed (standard 9$ listing) domains for about 5 times so far. Problem is, it feels like there is not enough exposure. In average, there are 30 views per 7-days auction with BIN price. Considering the fact that flippa suggests tons of listing options for extra cash, I'm thinking that I do something wrong so I opened this discussion in order to understand my mistakes.

Guide questions :
1. Do you use flippa's service at all?
2. If so, which listing type do you use when you are listing domains?
3. Do you think their service worth the 9$ I invest each listing?
4. How do you maximize the views of your listing?

Let us have a fine discussion. Thanks in advance!

Yeah,a $9 listing won't likely get an auction any real viewers. If a domain is truly good (speculation apples here), don't list on Flippa unless you plan to get the auction in front of eyeballs with a paid upgrade.Otherwise, you'd be best not listing at all.

It's LIKELY for a $9 listing fee domain to have no views on there. Most people aren't just randomly browsing the thousands of domains on flippa. It's becoming a saturated market very quickly.

The $9 won't get you exposure. It will get you an auction which is a format which, if the name is good, can drive up prices by creating competition.

(I've only listed maybe 2 domains on there for $9 and they both got 4-5 watchers naturally).

Haha i love your comments!
So brutal, so merciless, so MAD!

Thanks for the reply, I think there is a point in what you are saying.. BUT I was only talking about the exposure aspect, not the worth in total. I mean, its possible for a good domain to have no views, right?

domaining is brutal, merciless and can either make you mad or drive you mad.

the point, is the illusion, that views and watchers make sales.

flip has vividly created that vision in the minds of many, which is why they "can charge" various listing fee's.

however, in the minds of others, domains sell themselves.

and the owners just negotiate on price.

thirsty for sales, sure try flip

but if you got drinks in the fridge, then sit back and chill

:)

Some domains it is OK to advertise on Flippa, and some domains are better sold by having patience and just putting in your "For-Sale" Page.
Normally I would pay to boost a domain sale once it has reached a certain number of bids (once it has some traction). Some thoughts on this same topic on this blog post Flippa Domain Sale

I've sold one domain with a broker on my first go-round with Flippa. Tonight I added my first listing on my own. I chose a 7 day auction with the $49 homepage upgrade. To drive additional traffic, I plan to redirect the domain to the listing, post on domain forums, and email end users directly. My starting price will be $69 with no reserve.

Few Days ago I bought a Domain (shouthub.co) but very soon Started to regret buying as there was another website with domain shouthub.com. so I used Flippa to sell my domain with their standard listing option but still got no watchers :(. What do you think is this domain good enough to sell?

Hi Chris,

In my opinion this kind of domain name needs to be a .com to have value since the keywords aren't strong enough to stand by their self. The .co drastically decreases the value of this domain and if there is any value around this keyword (which I didn't check thoroughly and can't tell exactly) it's in the .com version.

But once again, only my opinion..

:) Flippa will usually list its "own" domains for promotion on the first page. This means, they can direct 90% of attention to the domains their brokers want to sell. Unless you have a liquid domain, you will probably get no views on Flippa. If you ask them, they will say do some more advertising for your domain around, and point your users to a Flippa for sale page.

Pay for listing!
Pay for ads on the domain page (still few open this page, so almost no visibility)
Pay for ads on the first page (best option), but compete with FLippa Brokers and high fees!
Pay commission on the sale as well if for some reasons you sell the domain
Make 1$ and go home!
Welcome to Flippa :)
