Anyone sense a nuclear warfare coming? I am South Korean, and I have a lot of worries for all my family in South Korea. Why must North Korea be so ignorant?

Anyways, this is quite a concern now. Back in 1994 the threat from NK was when they didn't have the technology. It seems like now they do, which makes it a totally different situation.

No one can confirm or disprove that this was a nuclear explosion. It could just be a hoax by the NK's, in that the explosion could have been made with quite a bit of TNT, I read about 550 tons was the equivilant.

Will undoubtedly change the complexion of affairs in that part of the world.. not to mention that now this will become even more campaign trail fodder with elections here in the US a month off..

Its a big upset, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan all will be vying for some kind of deterent, even when Iran is many years away from going militarily nuclear, everyone will be putting undue pressure on Iran, as people will be saying diplomacy fails...what worse could have people expected... If there is a way to stop the widespread trend to go nuclear, it lies in the hands of the big powers like USA, UK, Russia, Germany, if USA can lead by example declaring that they will be getting rid of everything even remotely associcated with nuclear warfare, others may feel less insecure and follow in stopping the dreaded killer on the lose.
