Non-UK resident registering .co.uk domains

I registered few .co.uk domains 15 days ago at GoDaddy. Since the minute one when the domain appeared in my account under its status was 'Data Quality Validation Underway'.

Today I've received the following email:


Nominet® Whois Data Policy
Claims ID Number: XXXXXXXXX
Please verify your contact information.
Dear ,

The .uk registry, Nominet, requires domain owners to maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information for their database. This includes name (or company name) and address information.

They've been unable to verify some of the information you've provided. Please update the contact name and address for the following domain(s): XXXXXXXX.co.uk
UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION
The process is fast and simple. If your contact information hasn't been validated in 30 days, your domain may be suspended. Take care of it right away to avoid any interruption to your website or email service.


I changed contact details for co.uk domains, entered UK address and phone but 1 hour after received the same email again.

If anyone knows how to resolve this I will appreciate the help. Thanks.

you don't need a uk address or uk phone number, to register .co.uk

I know that, I tried changing my real to uk info just to get rid off this issue, but it didn't help.

Have you gone to nominet.org.uk, if registered .co.uk domains you will be able to login there, or set up a login and see your info there as well as your registar, my advice would be to contact nominet (not the registrar) directly

I did that, but Nominet told me to contact Godaddy.

Let them keep thinking them up and reserving them for you.
Anyone can register but still need to qualify.

You need valid address in Uk to register domain. If its says Data Quality Validation Underway you have to email to ukverify@godaddy dot com mail that you have a valid UK address. And you need to send some utility bill that proves the address is correct. Other wise your domain will be on hold.

You DON'T need a uk address for .co.uk's

to the OP
as soon as you reg a .co.uk , you immediately create an account in nominet.org.uk with the domain owner's mail as the user name.

my suggestion would be to log in that account and contact nominet as a nominet user

The process is very simple really. All you need to do is provide some kind of proof of who you are along with proof of the address you live in. Make sure that the proof is easy to understand by the nominet people (for example I had to find a bill with latin letters since my native language has different characters compared to english).

What I suggested above is exactly what I've done and it worked with no problems no matter what registrar I have used to reg the .co.uk domain
