Newgle just launched and is touted as “The non-COM search engine.”. Newgle allows you to search the web with only the New gTLDs in the results.

The creators claim they built Newgle to show how websites on legacy TLDs (.COM, .NET, and .ORG) and ccTLDs are so “1990s and early 2000s”.

You won’t find any .COMs here, only new gTLDs.

Newgle is just using the Google custom search feature and is not a search engine built from scratch.

Funny! All the Ads by Google that display on the top of the page are .coms.
So what do you mean by You won’t find any .COMs here, only new gTLDs.?

Good thought.
But need huge investments to gain popularity and compete with top search engines.

It's never going to compete, people aren't going to use crap search engines. I don't think you even looked at it, it's just Google Custom search. The results are horrible.

For ngtlds to gain revenue and popularty they have to come up with ideas. And this is good one "Non dot com search engine". But as I said before ... huge investment needed and can they afford it.

So the idea is to provide crappy results and that will make them more popular? It will probably have the opposite affect. This looks like something somebody did just for fun, again, it's just Google Custom search. Some domainers will check it out for a few days, and that's it.

And how do you know what they can afford?

Absolutely correct.

Good question.
I think the thought behind it goes like there are good ngtld sites available but top search engines are not displaying them so why not create a new search engine which can pull out good ngtld sites.

I did searches yesterday, results all crap. Figure, let me do another search. Best Pizza In Orlando.
3rd result:

essaysanoint.accountant

and it redirects to

myadmissionessay. com

Do that search and look, .accountant page after .accountant page, porn - Free porno video site, sals pizza milford ma

That's what I'm seeing, crap, spam, porn etc. I just wanted some pizza. So make sure you put a big ole condom around your computer before venturing out.

Like I said, let the typical person use this for a few days, weeks. Backfire. If I invested in new gtlds, I would want that site taken down, wouldn't want negative attention. I understand the idea behind it, but the result is not good.

So the dwarfs are rounding up against the giant?
Counter-productive.

If the registrars of these new gTLDs could be less greedy and reduce the exorbitant cost associated with owing their domain names, it'd serve the industry better. Simply illogical for unknown extensions to be far more expensive than the most popular and established brand.

Not a bad idea. It's only a matter of time til they figure out exactly what type of sponsored websites to place on their results. It's just another divide of .com vs the rest (then there's the scam sites for both).

Also a matter of time til they get rid off that name. Newgle ? New Google. C'mon. You wanted to get away from the big G but you're still stuck.

Still, it's promising. Get this thing together already so folks can get smart with what they invest on, whether it's .com or not.

What a joke this is. Starting with the domain itself and finishing with the crappy design. There aren't probably more than 1000 developed gTLD sites online and he wants to build a search engine with that.

I checked the whois to see who's the "genius" behind this site - it's (obviously) under privacy.
