Hello All,
NNN.us domains are among the most rare type of domains out there, and has been well noted, the registry has reserved quite a few of the NNN.us combos (as well as a large number of LLL.us combos).
Fonzie makes an interesting point that sellers are the ones who make the prices...but taking that one step further, it is really both buyers and sellers that make the marketplace. Sellers can set prices, but it is only when buyers and sellers meet at a price that a sale take place and an insight into valuation can be observed.
As far as pricing goes, it's certainly fair to disagree with the price guide at 3character.com, and that's not uncommon feedback. Some say the prices are too low and some say they are too high.
The prices are a reflection of recent wholesale sales data reflecting valuations for the worst letter, number and character combos. It is more difficult to decifer valuations where low volumes of sales data are available, as is the case with NNN domains in general and also with hyphenated character combos. This said, the values given are designed to be a reflection of the valuations for the worst combos at wholesale price as best derived from the data and trends.
Also, do keep in mind that the data at 3c is updated monthly and in the world of LLL, NNN and CCC domains, a lot can change in a month's time. We're right now preparing the report for the middle of this month, and the data in some places is a lot to digest and analyze.
As a side note, I am amused at some of the tougher feedback we're recieved lately (fonzie's post above not included...I appreciate your thoughts fonzie). In the last few weeks several have argued that the guide is somehow fixed and set too low. As one who owns a few LLL, NNN and CCC domains, I suppose it would benefit me greatly to have the prices higher...but we work very hard to make the values given accurate and without bias. Yes, it would probably benefit me and others to have the prices be higher, but that would be unfaithful to the data and trends and would be counter to the very goal of the guide - to be a helpful, accurate and valuable tool for 3 character domainers.
Thanks again,
zesty
