Got the following mail today from [email protected].
Am I able to sell the domain before that 10day period ends? Or will the new owner get in trouble (even if he/she's from the US)?
Anyone got this kind of mail before?
All suggestions are welcome :)

Dear Johan,

As you may be aware, in November 2001, the United States Department of Commerce ("DOC") selected NeuStar, Inc. ("NeuStar") to be the Administrator of the .US top-level domain ("usTLD"), the official top-level domain for the United States of America. As Administrator of the usTLD, NeuStar has agreed to perform random "spot checks" on registrations in the usTLD to endure that they comply with the usTLD Nexus Requirements which can be found at http://www.neustar.us/policies/docs/ustld_nexus_requirements.pdf ("Nexus Requirements").

Our records indicate that you are the registrant of the domain name [-removed-].US

On September 9, 2005, this domain name was selected of Nexus revalidation and confirmation. According to the information you provided with your registration of these Domain Names, you indicated that you qualify under:

Category 1 - You are a US citizen or permanent resident (C12)

As part of our verification process, we ask that you provide to us by no later than ten (10) days after the date set forth above, a written response describing how you qualify under the above Nexus category.

In addition, please verify that the name-servers that you have selected to use are also physically located within the United States as required by the Nexus Requirements.

In some instances, we may request additional documentary evidence from you to demonstrate that you meet the Nexus requirements.

You should be aware that if you either (i) do not respond within the ten (10) days, or (ii) are unable to adequately explain or demonstrate through documentary evidence that you meet any of the Nexus Requirements, NeuStar may issue a finding that your entity or organization has failed to meet the Nexus Requirements. Upon such a finding, you will then be given a total of ten (10) days to cure the US Nexus deficiency. If you are able to demonstrate within ten (10) days that your entity or organization has remedied such deficiency, you will be allowed to keep the domain name. If, however, you either (i) do not respond within the ten (10) days of such a finding of noncompliance, or (ii) are unable to proffer evidence demonstration compliance with the Nexus Requirements, the domain name registration will be deleted from the registry database without refund, and the domain name will be placed into the list of available domain names.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards
.US Customer Support

I suggest that you put your dot US domains
up for sale, but explain to potential buyers that they
will have to satisfy Neustar that they are qualified
to own dot US domains.

Let this be a heads up that you should always use Cat 3 (foreigners doing business in the US) instead of Cat 1. And that your DNS servers must reside in the States.

If you really need local presence, you can sign up to one of those virtual office networks.

Further, it is very easy to get US incorporation, eg Delaware.

I registered it via a WWD reseller and I only had the following alternatives:
1) I am a citizen of the US
2) I am a permanent resident of the US

I was using a DNS server in Sweden, so I guess that's why they noticed...
Got any suggestions for any of those "virtual office networks" you were talking about?

Thanks for all replies

If I put .us domains on sedo parking will it be a problem. Is their server in the US?

If not, what parking service could I use?

I think their servers are in Austria... if you look up your domain at whois.sc you'll see the flag of Austria at IP location...

Fake email

hey Col
the email you have received is fake.
don't send anything to them, its not from neustar.
i received the same email 2 months ago and did a verification of my own, so i called neustar and they advised me not to reply to the email.
the email is from someone trying to hijack your domain, after you reply they will ask you to Scan your ID card and send it to them and then then can do all sorts of things using your ID, most possibly transfer your domain.
so be very careful, i advise you to contact neustar and ask them about the email.
but before that don't send any information.

I mean come on open your eyes man my kid brother can tell the email is fake.
read the email agin you get what i mean.

"On September 9, 2005, this domain name was selected of Nexus revalidation and confirmation."

for nexus revalidation and confirmation not "of"

mine was different i had 15 days to reply.
;)

Well the mail was sent from [email protected] and I also got a copy of the mail forwarded from [email protected]
The only contact mail in that mail is the address to Neustar. If this is fake, why would they want me to send info to Neustar?

It won't hurt to double-check with Neustar, as Pogo suggested. Can you do a
"trace" of the email's header IP address you got?

Aside from a few grammar errors, Neustar's tech center is not 46000.

Here's why:

Registrant Name: NEUSTAR
Registrant Address1: Loudoun Tech Center
Registrant Address2: 45980 Center Oak Plaza
Registrant City: Sterling
Registrant State/Province: VA
Registrant Postal Code: 20166

Granted, it's close enough.

Just checked the header and found the following:
from tolschjsf01.talismaonline.com (147.208.11.230)
This sender seems a little fishy....

The mail from wildwestdomains was sent through:
from smtpout03-03.mesa1.secureserver.net (64.202.165.73)

Well, I guess we'll know in a couple of days if it's real or not. I'll try to contact Neustar and see what they have to say about it.

Here's a tidbit I got after reporting this in another forum: that line you posted
about tolschjsf01.talismaonline.com (147.208.11.230) suggests it was sent
from Talisma Corp. One of the posters from there found a link between Talisma
and Neustar:
