Newbie to Domain Selling

Hi there everyone,

As you know already, I'm new to 2nd tier domain selling & need some help getting started.

I want to make PPC clicks on my domains in the meantime until they are selling, but I don't know if I should go with Fabulous.com or Sedo.com

What do you recommend?

Also, what do you guys think of Go Daddy's auction area?

How do I know how much my domains are worth?

Do adult domains sell more & faster?

Who are the types of people who buy domains? Just other 2nd Tier domain sellers? or people who actually want the domains for themselves?

When I was looking for domains I had no idea how to get a domain that was taken, so I only have to assume most others also don't know.

Is it worth it to set up a site w/ just the list of all the domains for sale?

Why are some MBs not free, other than the obvious reason of wanting to make money?

Does anyone really make any money off of this, or is it all p/t money?

How do you go about marketing the domains you have for sale if there's only 3-4 MBs that deal with this sort of thing?

Is it worth it going thru a broker?

Can I list my URLs in my sig line here on the board?

Sorry for all the questions. I know you will probably pick the 1 or 2 you like the best & answer.

Any advice is much appreciated & have a great wknd.

Thanks

Michelle

I already went to the FAQ & there's nothing there that addresses my questions. In fact, a lot of those questions are just about domains in general, stuff I learned ages ago.

Thanks

I want to make PPC clicks on my domains in the meantime until they are selling, but I don't know if I should go with Fabulous.com or Sedo.com

Sedo is both a ppc engine and auction site, where as i think fabulous contentrate on ppc....(could be wrong). I got all my domains listed with Sedo atm. I also read on another forum that in order to use fabulous you must have a certain number of domains and uniques visits to be allowed into there program...or is that domainsponsor?

What do you recommend?

Sedo is the best auction site, but dont expect a gazillion offers. If PPC is your focus you can definately do better than Sedo

Also, what do you guys think of Go Daddy's auction area?

Not much to be honest, and by looking at it..i dont think its been very successful.

How do I know how much my domains are worth?

Thats all about experience, research and time, there are no hard and fast rules, but generally if your new, you can choice 3 options. Go with good quality 2 word .com combo's perhaps .net, OR go with lesser used extensions, but buy better keywords, OR try and pick up 3 and 4 word domains LLL or NNN .coms, .nets, .orgs.(not likely to pick up many free ones, and backordering them from the dropcatchers (pool, enom, and snapnames) isnt going to be cheap.

Its a good idea to focus on one area, get to know that market really well and pump it heavily. Domain worth is such a broad area...

Do adult domains sell more & faster?

Adult domains is a niche market, id probably steer clear, also advertising and promoting adult domains is harder on forums like this because of the rules relating to adult content...

Who are the types of people who buy domains? Just other 2nd Tier domain sellers? or people who actually want the domains for themselves?

Both, generally speaking though youll get a better price from those that want to develop it, but you can do a greater volume through selling to other domain sellers...so its:

a) end user = better price
b) domain reseller = more turnover

That's a very general assessment however.

When I was looking for domains I had no idea how to get a domain that was taken, so I only have to assume most others also don't know.

Unless your in the game most people probably dont know, which is a major problem for sites like sedo, tdnam, and even namepros. Im sure lots of companies and business arent even aware they exist...and would only find them through search engines.

They'd be even less aware of what backordering is.

Is it worth it to set up a site w/ just the list of all the domains for sale?

Its worth spreading your portfolio to as many sites as possible in my view, if youve got the time, by all means go for it. Once again dont expect a lot of sales this way, most sales will come from proactive marketing

Why are some MBs not free, other than the obvious reason of wanting to make money?

What are MB's?

Does anyone really make any money off of this, or is it all p/t money?

Mostly part time id say...but i havent been around long enough to know, for me its very part time. Some people though, the veterans and pro's make very serious money of it

How do you go about marketing the domains you have for sale if there's only 3-4 MBs that deal with this sort of thing?

Ok i think by MB's you mean forums? or auction sites?. There are several this is true, but there are other ways to make money.

1) Direct marketing potential companies
2) Domain auction sites
3) Forums like this one
4) Your own website...

Thats the four methods..

Is it worth it going thru a broker?

Id imagine if you have really good domains yes. There experienced pro's that will most likely get a better price than you can. If your domains are so-so then probably not..Depends what they charge i spose

Can I list my URLs in my sig line here on the board?

Your domains for sale? sure

Sorry for all the questions. I know you will probably pick the 1 or 2 you like the best & answer.

Any advice is much appreciated & have a great wknd.

Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for our insight :)

So other than the sites you mentioned, what other sites can I market my domains to?

How do I direct market to companies?

How do I know the difference between a good & no so good broker? I mean ethical etc.

Should I just go & post all my domains to the appraisel boards?

Yes, sorry, MBs = Message Boards.

Everyone keeps telling me to drive traffic to my domains, but other than putting them on PPC, I don't see how that's possible. I'm certainly not going to take this many domains, host them, throw a few paragraphs of text & AdSense up & wait? That's a ton of hard work & very expensive.

I gathered that's what the person was suggesting. Did I misread something?

How else can one get traffic to a parked domain?

Thanks & have a great Sunday :)

If you need the e-mail address to the president's office, just let me know.

Take care
