Hi All, So I'm pretty new to domaining and thought i'd start learning the ropes. I done what everyone else would do "got excited and bought the lot". My domains are all recently new with no real data to them, Does anyone think I have any potential to start building or selling my mini portfolio for a profit? All your help is much appreciated :)
Jamie

JamVid.com would make a great site that caters to band videos. I would say mid xxx IMO. I think it is a great domain. Very catchy.

Marrying.info I would say low xxx IMO.

Don't know about the rest.

It's not too hard to find decent available domains.
Finding domains that sell is a tad more difficult.

Difficult to make profitable sales of .info domains. Weak extension.

In my opinion, all of these domains have potential. The .info extension would be good if a customer wanted to make information websites based on the domain names. I think that if you targeted the right audience, you would find that people are interested in these domains.

Thanks!

i say... don't buy any more domain names until you sell or develop some of them.

fantastic, Thankyou all for some quick advice! My plan is to develop them, But I'm still unsure how I am going to be able to do that. Hopefully i'll be able to sell these soon for some profit and come back to you with good news :) Any ideas on development methods?

p.s. guys I forgot my other domain Tombs.info, I thought it would be a good historical site for a museum or otherwise.

I disagree - if this guy is a newbie he's doing quite well - I can see some potential here not that he will get rich all of a sudden but he's not a million miles away !

I like the last two, they are brandable and you may be able to find buyers for them if you are pro active, but my problem with the majority of the .infos is that its marrying, not marry, flooded, not flood.... it will be hard to find buyers for these (it's harder to develop a site about 'flooded' than it is to create one for 'flood') and I think you should continue with the brandable .coms. Just my opinion though! You seem like a nice guy and I want you to start off on the right foot.

Considering this just almost sold for $20 on the reseller market, I think you can get $15-$40+ for those .infos for a nice little profit.

sold abnormal.info

sold $20

pm the payment info

You could develop Tombs.info, Jamvid and OldHound are not too bad. Cant comment on the rest. Not all single word domains are valuable...

If I were you, I would focus on .coms only for now...it's not easy to flip .info; I got a few decent ones myself. Invest in decent domains, they are pricey but I would own 1 decent .com than 10 useless .whatever any time.

a short domain poem for ya:

you aren't doing well

until you make a profitable sale,

or you're monetizing the names,

so your portfolio can be sustained.

Biggie, I understand where your coming from, but...your already established and have learnt what to look for.:) If I sold all of these for ยฃ25 each then I've made a profit, surely then...im doing well?

What makes me unsure is for instance domains like flooded.info. estibot says its $750 estimate. Why the hell then would I try sell that for less?

If you think an automated appraisal tool can be remotely accurate you have everything to learn.

I dont think its accurate when I consider all the other factors that automatic appraisal doesn't count, but Perhaps its a starting point. Half that plus?! That appraisal engine says to me that technically and keyword wise a domain has some form of value other than nothing.

You will get what some one is willing to pay for it. Don't get sucked in by these appraisal tools. If you can't sell domain, and it is not earning any income, domain is totally useless.

A very valuable lesson, but really they aren't worthless. Start shopping them around, I know there are still .info fans out there that'd grab these for the right price. Otherwise start looking for end users and asking your $750, ya never know.

Hi James

i learned what to look for, after i learned what not to look for. :)

which is why i said , don't buy more till you sell some or build an income stream.

concerning appraisals, if or when "da bot" starts "buying" the domain names based on the amount they appraised it for, then you can consider those valuations accurate.

though if you checked first before selling, would you have ever thought to ask for more than what they state it's worth?

still, if you purchased all those domains at or below $10 and sold each for $25, then yes...you'd be doing well with a roi above 50%.

.info at one time, were free or damn near free and unless they really "fit" the extension, they can be difficult to resell above costs.

alligator.info
grams.info
lagrange.info
donald.info

are all mine, all have potential...if you like .info

Personally I think you are doing well not bad names HOWEVER the extension is close to worthless "in my opinion" IF YOU PLAN TO RESELL forget it. MY OPINION ONLY PLEASE. BUT if you plan to develop you can make money from these names, also product related .info domains do quite well I did target those. If I was you instead of buying newly regged domains I would rather save that money and buy 1 great product domain with a bit of history and then develop that into a business focusing first on one, once you start making money with it then you apply the formula to your second and third and forth.domains.bla bla . . Good luck
