Newbie Hand Reg Advice Please

Hi everyone. So I am new to this and I registered some domain names and I need opinions.

ebolastrains.org/.net/.info
ebolastrain.org/.net/.info

How did I do? I think these may have end user potential especially at a research organization. Advice? Opinions?

You're better off buying sites you can develop, such as if you were producing a webpage with information on different ebola strains. And then, you would probably want to own the .com too. I have some for sale that are really good domains like BundlePlan but unless someone wants to sell BundlePlans or come up with marketing the site for something else it's hard to get any money for selling it to someone without any interest. You have to buy sites you build up so you build up interests

Focus on what's permanent, lucrative, and likely to be attractive for a business online.

And start out with .COM.

Agreed. Tragedies are short-term. And domainers usually jump on board after the initial spike in traffic ... just in time for it to subside.

That's only true to some degree. Opinions are divided on what is ethical or not when it comes to domaining. Ebola domains are a grey area where good people sometimes have differing opinions about whether selling them is proper or improper.

But who are we kidding? There is a lot of buying and selling of heinous domains. Plenty of domainers are definitely unethical people. Cybersquatting. Malware. etc. They wouldn't say no to profit no matter where it comes from.

The main issue with the domains listed above is that they just wouldn't have market value regardless of ethical considerations.

People are talking about "ebola". Discussion of "ebola strains" -- i.e. using those words -- occurs at a much much lower level. And the phrase isn't really suitable for branding a website -- not even in .COM.

Sure, but that should not discourage your motive/intention in domaining - Just slow down and take it easy. You can do it
