I am brand new to domaining, on impulse I bought a $2.00 warrior forum booklet about domain name flipping. Well it was short but to the point, so I bought a domain off expireddomain.net and registered it with godaddy for $3.00ish.

It is onlinecollegecertification.com

I didn't do any research on that domain name, I liked it because it was a .com and had a high CPC, and estibot said it was worth over $600.00, not sure what else to look for.

I put it on sedo.com at $399.00 which was their recommendation.

So this seems too easy...I don't expect to get rich off this, and I don't expect it to fly off the shelf but still this is very passive (which I like as I have another business that takes all of my time). So I wouldn't mind adding more domains to sedo...I don't want to build them out at all, just buy them and immediately add them to Sedo to sell...is that doable??

I have a few newbie questions..

1. Do I need to do any kind of research on the domain name for sale as far as health of the domain ie: blacklisting or fake PR or something that will/has harmed the site/name??
2. Once my name is on the whois, is it officially mine?
3. Are expired domains from expireddomains.net truly available for ownership immediately or is there a waiting period? I hear about using brokers, but as far as I can see the ones listed as expired are available...am I missing something??? I would think I wouldn't have been able to register it if it wasn't available.
4. Can I sell the domain right away (within same registrar)?
5. Should I use Sedo's parking program?

1. You can if you want, but it'd probably be a waste of your time.
2. Yes and No. (No if you forget to renew it, or if you have faulty info in the Whois.)
3. Don't know. Never heard of expireddomains.net
4. Yes, if your answers to #2 & #3 are "Yes".
5. Yes, if you don't care about things such as "Revenue".

BTW: I see your "join date" is 2005, but apparently you still wish to qualify as "Newbie". Also, your recent acquisition (and your conservative approach) puts you well ahead of the rank & file IMHO.

Personally I moved all my domains from Sedo parking to DNS so I can't really say I was happy with it!

I think you have to choose the path you want to follow...EMDs? Brandables? New trends? LLLLs? and build your portfolio around your decision.

Yes. And don't forget Trademark research.

2. Once my name is on the whois, is it officially mine?
Yes.

As long as you were able to reg it and pay for it, it's yours.

4. Can I sell the domain right away (within same registrar)?
Yes, you can. Most peoples' problem, is finding a buyer.

5. Should I use Sedo's parking program?
Depends if you have great name with lotsa legit traffic. The chance of a newbie being able to reg such domain is kind remote nowadays. But it's not going to hurt you if you try it yourself.

What am I looking for as far as site health and how do I do it???

---------- Post added at 09:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 AM ----------

I had forgotten I joined this forum years ago, my past experience is only with adsense sites I still have about 8 or so of those and the monthly $$ is slowly dwindling on that. That is why I don't want to build sites, it is to much work to keep them up.
