Hi,
The fact is that I am new to this and I have a couple of .com domains registered in my name. I am looking for buyers for these domains and I got one offer so far. I think I can do better and would require some knowledge about how this business works.
1) At present, I have 3 dotcom domains that I am willing to sell. I prefer someone who I can trust to be in business with.
2) I am aware of domain brokers and their role, but I only had 1 other experience so far. Are there any domain brokers who are trustworthy and reputable? Would anyone be able to point me to them?
3) On an average how much commission do the brokers charge?
4) The one domain realtor, I had a talk with says that if he buys direct he won't be able to sell for 2 months due to restrictions that the domain industry regulations that prohibit transferring domains for two months after registration or changing ownership. Is this true?
6) How does the payment work? Normally, I prefer to take full payment before transfer to avoid fraud. Is there any other structure of payment I need to know?

I know this may be a lot of questions, but I would greatly appreciate if anyone could shed some light into this matter. Thank you for your time!

Consequently if you are a domain buyer, or domain seller, fell free to reach out to me about more details of my domains. Thank you! Have a wonderful day!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

First couple of months you should READ, READ AND READ. Previous topics, domain appraisal topic, legal issues. All in all more than enough READING on NPs. Otherwise you will lose a lot of money for garbage.

Hi,
I was looking for ways to flip domains for profit. I have invested in a couple of .com domains. Now the issue, I find is that I am not aware of the how the business works. I have reasonably priced my domains after reading several articles on how to price the domains. I know that .com domains fetch the big bucks.

However, I am not able to find buyers for my domain. How do I go about finding buyers? Preferably I would want direct sale (to eliminate commision) however, if there are any trustworthy and reputable domain brokers, kindly point me in that direction.
Another question I had is, how much commission is typically charged by these brokers/realtors?
any helpful response is greatly appreciated.

Consequently if you are a domain buyer, or domain seller, fell free to reach out to me about more details of my domains. Thank you! Have a wonderful day!

Hi

my advice, please "re-read" your post.
first thing you talk about is flip for profit

then you don't know how the business works,
but you've read a few articles about how to price domains

and... based on that, you think you have priced them reasonably

the one thing you declare you do know is..."that .com domains fetch the big bucks"

however, the one thing you didn't say or declare that you know is that "not all, nor will every and not many will ever sell for the big bucks"....particularly when the seller doesn't know much about this business at all.

if you want, you can send me your a list of "best 5" .com domain names.

imo....

Made the change based on what you suggested. you are correct I am new to this. I only understood the buying and registering part of domain business. I need to know how to sell, how much to sell it for and whom to sell. Thank you for your reply

Pricing the domains is not the problem. Don't put the cart before the horse.
You need to have domains that somebody else would want. Failing that, they will never sell.

nothing really changed as far as your "mindset"

you just rearranged your agenda into structured questions.

again, re-read what you posted above

there is no mention of "quality" of domain names in your portfolio

only that you want to sell and that you are afraid of being defrauded.

you will end up defrauding yourself more, by not "learning'"what is a "good domain", from the amount of cash spent on unsellables.

because the registrar will never tell you not to register this domain name.

a "domain realtor" told you what?

seems like you're already been listening to the wrong people

imo....

What exactly do you mean by Quality?

What exactly do you mean by Quality?

quality, as in Grade A Butter, Grade A Milk,

or are your domains subpar and haven't went thru any quality testing for bacteria, pathogens, etc.

buyers want "quality" domain names

if you want to sell a domain to someone who already has one, then you need to convince or explain why your domain is or would benefit them more than the one they are currently using.

when you want to sell to someone who doesn't have a domain, then they need to understand why your domain is the better choice over other options.

if you can't convey those type of messages, you'll have trouble moving inventory

quality sells, crap smells

imo....

Recently I used ICAAN agency to appraise my domains. I did this based on a potential buyer thru a domain realtor who needed a trademark verification certificate for the sale. But now i think I am duped.

Note that you used ICAAN. The right institution is ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), and they don't appraise domains.

1. no such thing or person as a "domain realtor"

also, the term "realtor" is trademarked

and yes, you've been duped big time, not only by them, but from the articles you half-read

cuz you dupe yourself, when you cut your education short.

imo....
